No new Resistance game has been confirmed. The official records identified point to Resistance: Retribution, a PSP game that was converted for PS4 and PS5 and released on February 20, 2024. The ESRB entry is for the PSP and PS Vita versions—not a new PS4 or PS5 installment.
What does the rating refer to?
The ESRB entry found is for Resistance: Retribution, published by Sony Computer Entertainment America. It lists PSP and PSP Vita and assigns the game a Mature 17+ rating. Its content descriptors are Blood and Gore, Partial Nudity, Strong Language, Suggestive Themes, and Violence. See the ESRB listing.
That record does not identify a new PS4 or PS5 game. The specific alleged filing behind the “return” claim has not been identified, so it cannot be treated as confirmation of a new installment.
What Resistance game is already on PS4 and PS5?
Resistance: Retribution is listed for PS4 and PS5 on the US PlayStation Store. Sony describes it as a conversion of the PSP version, with a release date of February 20, 2024. The Store states: “This title has been converted from the PSP™ (PlayStation®Portable) version to the PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®5 consoles and provides newly added features.” View the PlayStation Store listing.

What changes in the PS4 and PS5 conversion?
The PlayStation Store lists up-rendering, rewind, quick save, and custom video filters as added features. It also warns that the converted game may play differently from the PSP version and that PSP peripherals are unsupported, meaning some functionality may be unavailable.
Does this confirm a Resistance revival?
No. The records establish that an existing PSP title is available as a PS4 and PS5 conversion; they do not confirm a new mainline game, remake, or franchise revival. No separate new rating filing or official announcement was identified in the records reviewed, but that does not establish that no such filing exists elsewhere. Until the alleged listing can be identified by its ratings board, entry date, title, and platforms—or Sony announces a project—the claim of a new Resistance game remains unverified.
