Toybox Turbos was built around toy-sized cars, obstacle-filled tracks and weapon power-ups, with four-player local play among its advertised features. It is a harder recommendation if you need to buy it now or expect public online matchmaking: the game has been delisted from stores, and current online availability is uncertain.
What kind of game is Toybox Turbos?
Codemasters released Toybox Turbos on Steam on November 11, 2014. Its official launch description presents it as an arcade racer with miniature vehicles, hazards and power-ups, rather than a simulation-focused racing game. The launch listing advertised 35 vehicles, 18 tracks, six single-player modes, boss battles, and local and online multiplayer for up to four players. Steam’s launch announcement and the Xbox product description list those features; they are publisher and platform descriptions, not an independent assessment of how the game holds up.

The feature mix points to its clearest use: short, casual races with friends. There is also single-player content and boss battles, so the game is not limited to multiplayer, but the available descriptions do not establish how deep or varied those modes feel in practice.
Is it still possible to buy Toybox Turbos?
Buying a new copy is the main obstacle. SteamDB lists the Steam app as retired, and OnlineRaceDriver reported on March 14, 2025 that Steam was the last storefront to remove the game after earlier console-store removals. Traxion also reported that it was no longer available to buy digitally and had no physical edition.

An Xbox product page remains visible, but a listing is not proof that checkout works. Availability can depend on region and store status, so check the store for your territory before making plans to buy. If you already own the game, check your library and platform account rather than assuming the delisting removes access to an existing copy.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does Toybox Turbos multiplayer still work?
The game launched with advertised local and online play for up to four players, but that does not guarantee that online services remain available. In a Steam Community post dated September 19, 2026, one player said public servers had shut down around 2017 while Steam-friend matches remained possible. That is an individual report, not an official status notice, and it does not confirm the situation on every platform or connection route. Read the community discussion.
For a prospective player, treat public matchmaking as uncertain rather than counting on finding a queue. Local multiplayer is the more dependable reason to consider the game, provided you can access a copy and confirm it runs on your setup.
Quick Recap
Who should play it now?
- Already own it and have friends to play locally: it is still a reasonable pick for casual, short-form racing, based on its advertised party-focused design.
- Mostly interested in single-player: six modes and boss battles were advertised, but the available feature descriptions do not establish their depth or present-day appeal.
- Want active public online races: look elsewhere unless you verify that the multiplayer route you intend to use is working.
- Need to buy a copy: confirm that your regional store actually allows purchase; storefront pages and past availability do not guarantee a current sale.
