Joyme Capital and Kee Ever Bright announced plans in March 2017 for a video-game investment fund with an initial target of $140 million and an intended eventual size of $360 million. The announcement described a fund in formation—not proof that $360 million was ultimately raised or invested.
What the 2017 announcement proposed
On March 6, 2017, Joyme Capital announced a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Kee Ever Bright Technology to establish a limited-partnership fund focused on video games and related businesses. The announcement set an initial target of $140 million (RMB 1 billion), with the parties intending to grow the fund to $360 million (RMB 3 billion). VentureBeat reproduced the Business Wire announcement; Global Venturing covered the plan the following day.
The distinction between target and completed fundraise matters: the sources reporting the announcement do not establish a final close, the amount ultimately raised, or how much capital was deployed.
What businesses the fund planned to back
The proposed investment scope included game development, distribution, esports, and other businesses involved in creating and publishing mobile and PC games. Joyme said it would seek ownership stakes in successful game developers.

The plan was not framed as capital alone. Joyme presented publishing resources and connections to the Chinese market as support for portfolio companies, particularly Western games seeking to enter China. Contemporaneous coverage likewise described Joyme’s community and commercial relationships as potential resources for companies seeking distribution there. These were stated intentions, not evidence that any particular game launched successfully through the fund.
Why Joyme paired investment with publishing resources
The announcement’s rationale was that a studio entering China might need more than financing: it could also benefit from publishing capabilities and local market connections. Joyme’s founder and CEO, Yang Chen (C.Y.), said the fund would look for opportunities to acquire ownership stakes in successful game developers. The company also described China as the largest gaming market by revenue; that was an attributed statement made in 2017, not a current market ranking.

Joyme Capital’s current About Us page describes its activity as supporting mid-stage game companies, including Series A–B investments, and connecting North American and European studios with global e-commerce, retail, technology, and distribution resources. That is the company’s present self-description; it does not verify what happened to the specific 2017 fund.

The available announcement-era coverage establishes the proposed structure, targets, and investment focus, but not whether the fund ultimately reached $360 million, made investments, or remains active. It is therefore accurate to call $360 million the intended target, not a confirmed raise or amount invested. No portfolio or final fundraising figure is established by these sources.
