FaZe Clan’s Finn “karrigan” Andersen said his older brother unexpectedly died a few days before the team’s Regional Major Ranking (RMR) event for the Perfect World Shanghai Major. FaZe qualified for the Major, according to a November 19, 2024 report by Insider Gaming.
What karrigan said about his brother
In a social-media statement reproduced by Insider Gaming, Andersen wrote: “My big brother unexpectedly passed away few days before RMR, it has been so rough to deal with it on top of the most stressful tournament. I miss him so much and it’s hard to believe he is not around anymore. I know he is in a good and peaceful place now.”
The report attributed the statement to Andersen’s post; the original post was not independently verified for this account.
Did FaZe qualify for the Shanghai Major?
Yes. Insider Gaming reported that FaZe qualified through the RMR, the qualification event ahead of the Perfect World Shanghai Major. The report was published November 19, 2024, by Grant Taylor-Hill.

What did karrigan plan to do next?
In the same statement, Andersen said: “I’m going home to attend his funeral and take a few days off, I know he would want me to push through to go the major and play my heart out and I will do that.” This was his plan as reported at the time; the account does not independently confirm whether he later traveled home or returned for the tournament.
Insider Gaming’s November 2024 report also said Andersen had flown to Shanghai on November 13 and described the Major as scheduled for November 30 to December 15. Those dates are historical, and the reported schedule does not establish what happened after the article was published.
