Julia Nardin was reportedly promoted to creative director for Bungie’s Marathon in May 2025. Insider Gaming reported the appointment on June 10, 2025, citing a change to Nardin’s LinkedIn profile that Marathon Bulletin had spotted; it did not cite an official Bungie announcement. The “last month” in that original headline referred to May 2025, not the current month.
Who is Marathon’s creative director?
Julia Nardin is the person named in Insider Gaming’s report. The article described her as a Bungie narrative leader whose work included Marathon and Destiny 2: The Final Shape.
According to that report, Nardin joined Bungie as a narrative lead in 2019 and became narrative director in 2022. Insider Gaming said her LinkedIn profile reflected the later creative director role; Marathon Bulletin had noticed the profile update. The report did not identify a public Bungie statement confirming when the promotion took effect.
What is the timeline of Nardin’s reported promotion?
- 2019: Nardin began at Bungie as a narrative lead, according to Insider Gaming.
- 2022: She became narrative director, the report said.
- May 2025: Her LinkedIn profile reportedly listed her as creative director for Marathon.
- June 10, 2025: Insider Gaming published its report, using “last month” to refer to the reported May promotion.
- July 2026: GameSpot identified Nardin as Marathon creative director while reporting on game director Joe Ziegler’s departure and Del Chafe III’s succession.
What did later coverage say about Marathon’s leadership?
In July 2026, GameSpot reported that Del Chafe III would take over as game director and work with Nardin. The article reproduced Ziegler’s statement that the two had been operating in strong leadership roles and were ready to guide the game into its next chapter. This later coverage indicates that Nardin was still publicly identified as creative director at that point; it does not establish why she was promoted in 2025.

No connection between Nardin’s reported promotion and a release delay or cancellation is established by the cited coverage. Insider Gaming’s original article raised that possibility as speculation, not as confirmed news. A personnel change alone does not establish a change to a game’s release plans.
