At Katano Castle in Izumi Settsu, defeat both Samurai Daisho to unlock the Legendary Chest, then search the southwest tenshu for the Insect Cage and chest. The recommended route approaches from the north; Naoe can climb to a roof hatch to reach the upper floors.
Where is Katano Castle?
Katano Castle is in Izumi Settsu, northwest of the Hideout. From the Hideout area, follow the road northwest to a fork and take the west branch toward the castle, as described in the Gamer Guides Katano Castle walkthrough.
How to enter and clear the castle
Katano Castle is a restricted area. The walkthrough recommends avoiding the front entrance and approaching from the north, where you can climb scaffolding to enter.
- Approach from the north. Use the scaffolding for access rather than going through the front entrance.
- Defeat both Samurai Daisho. These are the two castle objectives that must be cleared before the Legendary Chest can be opened. Ubisoft’s combat overview explains that Daisho appear in military castles and are associated with high-value loot.
- Head to the southwest corner. Find the tallest building in the grounds, the tenshu, for the upper-floor collectibles.

There are two Samurai Daisho to defeat at Katano Castle. The available location walkthrough identifies them as the prerequisite for opening the Legendary Chest, but does not give separate room-by-room positions. Clear both Daisho before making the chest your objective.

The Insect Cage is a Valuable Object near the top of the southwest tenshu. The walkthrough notes that you can collect it even before the quest that later asks for it is available; it is separate from the Legendary Chest and its rewards.

Naoe’s route through the tenshu
The walkthrough recommends Naoe for reaching the upper floors: climb the outside of the tenshu and enter through the roof hatch instead of taking the conventional lower-floor route. Ubisoft describes Naoe as a stealth-focused shinobi and Yasuke as a combat-oriented samurai, each with their own progression, skills, stats, and gear; the location guide does not establish that either character is required.
On an upper floor, watch for noisy floor sections that are visible with Eagle Vision. The walkthrough advises crossing on beams; doing so can also create an opportunity to assassinate a nearby guard. It notes a servant near the upper floor and a guard below. These are route tips from that walkthrough, not a guarantee of current patrol behavior.
