That combination gave the game a distinctive party-game pitch, but its platforming could feel slow and its online service is now closed: the game is no longer playable.
What was King of Meat?
King of Meat was a cooperative party platformer announced for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam, with an October 7, 2025 release date. Up to four players could tackle dungeons filled with puzzles, traversal challenges, and monsters. Players could choose official and community-made dungeons or build their own for others to play. Amazon Games’ announcement described that mix as the game’s core premise.

How did the co-op and dungeons hold up?
The appeal was easy to understand: a group could take on a shared obstacle course, solve its puzzles, and see how other players approached dungeon design. The community-created levels expanded the idea beyond a fixed campaign, while the creation tools offered a reason to experiment even when friends were not simply progressing through the same set of challenges.
In its October 2, 2025 review, TechRadar praised the dungeon maker and character creator, but found the platforming slow and cumbersome. The reviewer also reported server latency that could frustrate play. Those are TechRadar’s impressions from more than ten hours of pre-launch play on PS5, including solo and co-op levels and time with the creation tools—not a claim that every player or connection would have the same experience.

What made its customization distinctive?
Customization was more than a side feature to the game’s party premise: it gave players a way to shape both their own presentation and the challenges other people would encounter. TechRadar singled out the character creator and dungeon maker as strengths. The result was a game with two kinds of self-expression—personalizing an adventurer and designing a playable space—alongside the shared co-op runs.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is King of Meat playable now?
No. The official King of Meat FAQ says the game was removed from all storefronts on February 23, 2026, and its servers shut down on April 9, 2026. It also states that the game cannot be played after the shutdown. Although it was announced for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam, access depended on the online service that has since closed.
What happened to purchases and refunds?
The official FAQ says purchasers would receive full refunds through their platform provider. If a refund has not been resolved, the FAQ directs players to contact support for the platform where they bought the game. Refund processing and individual cases are handled by those providers, rather than by the game being playable again.
Verdict
As a concept, King of Meat had a lively combination: cooperative dungeon challenges, community creation, and customization that gave it more personality than a straightforward party platformer. TechRadar’s review also points to a meaningful weakness in the moment-to-moment platforming, with latency adding friction. Today, however, the decisive fact is practical rather than stylistic: the official servers are shut down, so there is no playable version of the game to recommend.
