Where to find the Trosky prisoner
This is the interrogation in Necessary Evil, not the later events in Storm. After the preceding quest, speak with Hans Capon and follow him to the castle torture chamber. Gamer Guides places it up the stairs just before Kabat; PowerPyx says that if you wait, talking to Hans and choosing “Let’s get to it” can take you both there. Gamer Guides’ Necessary Evil walkthrough and PowerPyx’s walkthrough describe the scene and route.
What you can learn from the interrogation
The questions can uncover four useful details: where the bandits are hiding, who leads them, whether Istvan Toth is with them, and whether Olda Semine helped them. GameEdu’s walkthrough identifies those information points and notes that the prisoner does not know what kind of sword Istvan stole. GameEdu’s interrogation guide covers these topics.

Skill checks can reveal information without torture, but a failed check may leave you without that detail. Torture can secure information, but using it too much can kill the prisoner. The exact dialogue sequence is not a universal solution: guides give different orders and routes, and your goal determines which information to pursue.
Choices for the Nebakov route that avoids the Semine raid
PowerPyx documents this choice sequence for obtaining the Nebakov information while keeping Semine out of the report. Follow the listed prompts in order; do not mix them with another guide’s alternate dialogue route.

- Use the slap and then the tongs prompts.
- Ask “Where is your band hiding?”
- Answer “We already know anyway.”
- Punch the prisoner, then choose to hit harder.
- Take the hammer. The prisoner reveals that the bandits are in Nebakov.
- Ask “Why did you ambush us?”
- Choose “You’re not worth it.”
- Choose “But you will (take instrument),” torture him, and then choose “Let’s change the subject.”
This sequence is PowerPyx’s documented route, not a guarantee that every dialogue outcome is independent of prior choices or game updates. If you want the leader, Istvan Toth, or possible local-help information as well, continue questioning along a route that pursues those details; obtaining them can change what you report and where the story goes next.
How to report the information and prevent the Semine raid
- After leaving the chamber, tell Hans: “Let’s keep quiet about Semine.”
- When reporting to Lord von Bergow, say the bandits are in Nebakov.
- Report that nobody helped the bandits there.
PowerPyx says this sends von Bergow’s men to Nebakov instead of Semine and unlocks the missable Silence is Golden trophy. The critical distinction is the report: revealing Semine’s alleged involvement leads toward the Semine raid. Reporting more information can send the full army to the Semine fortress; if you did not discover or you lie about the bandit leader, the raid still occurs with fewer soldiers.

Other outcomes and the cost of killing the prisoner
If you want to expose the alleged local help or pursue every information point, do not use the no-Semine-raid report above. Gamer Guides also recommends keeping quiet about Semine after the interrogation and warns that following von Bergow’s route can make Semine content unavailable. These guides describe consequential branches rather than a single best outcome for every playthrough.
Excessive torture can kill the prisoner. PowerPyx says his death carries substantial reputation losses with Hans and von Bergow, but does not remove every later report outcome. Avoid continuing to inflict pain once you have obtained the information your chosen route requires.
Quest timing to consider
Before starting the next main quest, consider finishing the Demons of Trosky side quest: PowerPyx warns that it has a missable objective after the next main quest begins. The Semine route can also make some Semine content unavailable, according to Gamer Guides. Those are separate planning concerns from the interrogation dialogue itself.
