Square Enix has confirmed both; the collection is a native, non-cloud release, unlike the earlier Nintendo Switch cloud versions.
What Kingdom Hearts is coming to Switch 2, and when?
The October 8, 2026 release is KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I~III], a bundle of three releases. It is not KINGDOM HEARTS IV: Square Enix has announced that next numbered game for Switch 2 with a separate late-2027 window.
| Release | Switch 2 timing | What it includes or where it is coming |
|---|---|---|
| KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I~III] | October 8, 2026 | HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX, HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind (DLC). Square Enix lists the Switch 2 editions as native, non-cloud releases. Square Enix |
| KINGDOM HEARTS IV | Late 2027; no exact date announced | Confirmed for Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Square Enix |
So “soon” depends on which game you mean: the collection is available on its announced launch date, while KINGDOM HEARTS IV is still more than a year away. Square Enix has not given an exact day or month for the latter.
What is in the Switch 2 collection?
The collection gathers three releases, but it is not three complete, newly playable numbered games in the same format. The first bundle, HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX, includes two entries presented as HD cutscene compilations; HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue includes an HD movie. The bundle also includes KINGDOM HEARTS III and its Re Mind DLC. Square Enix lists the component games digitally as well as a physical and digital collection bundle. Square Enix

Is the collection physical or cloud-based?
Square Enix describes the Switch 2 editions as native releases rather than cloud games. That is a meaningful change for players familiar with the earlier Nintendo Switch versions, which relied on cloud streaming.
A physical collection is listed, but the package does not contain all required game data: Square Enix says an internet connection is needed to download additional data. Store availability may vary by region. The separately listed digital components and bundle are also options. Square Enix Collection page
