Pick The Story So Far for a PS4 pre-Kingdom Hearts III playthrough
The Story So Far is the correct entry point if your PS4 is your target console and you want every included story leading up to Kingdom Hearts III, but not the third numbered game itself. It combines the HD 1.5+2.5 and HD 2.8 collections in one package. Buying it does not give you Kingdom Hearts III; you would need to obtain that game separately.
This is the bundle to choose when you are catching up, already own Kingdom Hearts III, or deliberately want to decide later whether to continue. It is also the clearest answer to the question, “Does The Story So Far include Kingdom Hearts 3?” It does not.

Pick All-In-One for one PS4 package through Kingdom Hearts III
The PS4 All-In-One Package adds Kingdom Hearts III to the two legacy collections. The PlayStation Store describes the package as HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX, HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and Kingdom Hearts III. Square Enix’s April 17, 2025 announcement called its European physical edition “a physical compilation of 10 different KINGDOM HEARTS titles in one edition” and gave June 12, 2025 as the release date.
Choose this edition when you specifically want a PS4 purchase that reaches the third numbered game without assembling the older collections and Kingdom Hearts III separately. Check the exact listing before buying, however: Re Mind appears as a separate PlayStation add-on on the All-In-One store page. “All-In-One” does not, by itself, confirm that the DLC is included.
Pick Collection [I–III] on PS5 or Switch 2
KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I–III] is the modern-platform bundle. It contains HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX, HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind (DLC). If you are buying for PS5 or Nintendo Switch 2 and want the broadest package in one purchase, this is the version designed for you.

Nintendo lists an October 8, 2026 Switch 2 release, while Square Enix lists PS5 and Switch 2 editions. Because the physical edition requires an internet connection and an additional data download, a disc or cartridge is not the entire installation. Confirm that your console can connect and that you have enough storage before opening the package.

The distinction between games and video is important. The 358/2 Days and Re:coded entries in this compilation are not full playable remakes; they are HD-remastered cinematic presentations. χ Back Cover is also a movie. The playable releases are the numbered and explicitly game-labeled titles in the list, along with 0.2 Birth by Sleep – A fragmentary passage –.

In practical terms, the two packages share the same two legacy collections. The purchase decision is whether Kingdom Hearts III is part of the box. If it is, All-In-One is the PS4 choice; if it is not, The Story So Far is the pre-KHIII choice.
What Collection [I–III] adds
Collection [I–III] packages the same two legacy collections with Kingdom Hearts III and explicitly includes the Re Mind DLC. That makes its DLC treatment different from the PS4 All-In-One listing, where Re Mind is shown as a separate add-on.
The bundle is available for PS5 and Switch 2 in the cited Square Enix and Nintendo listings. It is not the PS4 name for All-In-One, and it should not be treated as a universal replacement for every older edition. Match the collection to the console you actually intend to use.
Physical copies, downloads and editions
PS4 physical availability
Square Enix announced a European physical PS4 edition of All-In-One on April 17, 2025, with a June 12, 2025 release date. Regional stock and retailer availability can change, so verify that a listing is the European physical edition if that is the version you are seeking.
The Story So Far is likewise a PS4-focused package for readers who want the pre-KHIII collection. A listing titled “All-In-One” is not enough to establish that it contains Re Mind; read the contents and add-on information for the exact edition.
PS5 and Switch 2 physical requirements
The physical Collection [I–III] editions require an internet connection and an additional data download. Plan for the download before starting the games, especially if you have a data cap, a slow connection or limited free storage. The requirement applies to the physical current-generation editions described by the official listings.
Choose by situation
- You own a PS4 and want the complete lead-in to Kingdom Hearts III: choose The Story So Far, then buy Kingdom Hearts III separately when you are ready.
- You own a PS4 and want one package containing the legacy collections and Kingdom Hearts III: choose All-In-One Package.
- You own a PS4 and specifically want Re Mind included: do not assume All-In-One includes it; the PlayStation listing treats it as a separate add-on.
- You own a PS5: choose Collection [I–III] if you want the three collections and Re Mind in one current-generation bundle.
- You own a Switch 2: choose Collection [I–III], and prepare for the required internet connection and additional download for the physical version.
- You already own one of the legacy collections: compare the contents of the new bundle with what is in your library before paying. Official storefronts warn that Collection [I–III] content is also sold separately and in other bundles, so duplicate ownership is possible.
Common buying mistakes
Assuming “The Story So Far” reaches Kingdom Hearts III
It does not. The title is a pre-KHIII package built from 1.5+2.5 and 2.8. If the third numbered game is required, move to All-In-One on PS4 or Collection [I–III] on PS5/Switch 2.
Assuming “All-In-One” means every DLC item
The cited PlayStation Store listing shows Re Mind separately. Treat the base game and the DLC as separate purchase decisions unless the exact edition explicitly lists the add-on.
Counting every listed entry as a full game
358/2 Days and Re:coded are HD-remastered cinematics in The Story So Far, while χ Back Cover is a movie. They provide story context, but they are not equivalent to the fully playable games in the package.

Buying a current-generation physical copy without planning for the download
Collection [I–III] physical editions require internet access and an additional data download. Check connectivity and storage first; otherwise the physical purchase may not be immediately playable.
Buying a duplicate bundle
Because the collections are sold individually and in multiple bundles, inventory your existing digital and physical copies before choosing Collection [I–III]. A larger box is not automatically better value if you already own its components.
How much of the series does each bundle cover?
The three packages form a simple progression. The Story So Far covers the historical material and setup through the end of HD 2.8. All-In-One adds the main Kingdom Hearts III release on PS4. Collection [I–III] carries that same broad coverage to PS5 or Switch 2 and adds Re Mind explicitly.
Square Enix reported more than 37 million Kingdom Hearts units shipped worldwide in 2024. That figure describes the series as a whole, not the sales of any one bundle, but it explains why the same games appear across several overlapping compilations.
