Kingdom Hearts is a Square Enix action role-playing series made in collaboration with Disney. If you are new to it, Square Enix’s HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX collection is a practical place to begin: the publisher describes it as containing the first six stories. The larger Kingdom Hearts Collection I-III also includes HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind.
What is Kingdom Hearts about?
Square Enix describes Kingdom Hearts as an action role-playing series developed and published by the company under Tetsuya Nomura, in collaboration with Disney. Its official overview follows Sora, a Keyblade wielder, as he travels through Disney worlds with Donald Duck and Goofy and faces the Heartless.
The series began in the United States with Kingdom Hearts on September 17, 2002, according to D23, The Walt Disney Company’s fan club. D23 lists the US release of Kingdom Hearts II as March 28, 2006.
Which Kingdom Hearts game should I start with?
If you want a publisher-packaged starting point, begin with Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX. Square Enix calls it an essential collection of the first six stories. That identifies a useful entry point, but the collection description does not establish a definitive order for playing every individual title. The broader collection’s component names show how Square Enix packages the saga; they should not be mistaken for a detailed, official play-order guide.

For a specific sequence across all the games, consult a title-by-title guide that clearly distinguishes release order from story chronology and explains which versions it covers. The official overview and collection listing do not settle that question.
What is included in Kingdom Hearts Collection I-III?
Square Enix’s US collection page groups three components together. It describes HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX as containing the first six stories; it does not enumerate their individual titles in the collection summary described here.
Rank #2
- Used Book in Good Condition
| Collection component | What the publisher’s page establishes |
|---|---|
| Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX | Described as an essential collection of the first six stories. |
| Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue | Listed as a component of Kingdom Hearts Collection I-III. |
| Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind | Listed as a component of Kingdom Hearts Collection I-III. |
The collection page separates digital store links from physical product options. It lists digital links for Steam, Epic Games, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox, and physical options for Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation. Those listings do not guarantee that every edition is available in every region or in stock at a particular retailer.
Which platforms have physical editions?
Square Enix’s US page lists physical store options for Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation. The same page says the saga comes to Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on October 8, 2026, and lists digital stores separately. Because the date is October 8, 2026, check the live store for your region and platform to confirm whether the edition you want is currently purchasable; the page’s announcement alone does not confirm current stock or regional availability.
Where can I find official gameplay help?
Square Enix’s support material is for support issues, not walkthroughs. The company says: “SQUARE ENIX does not provide hints, tips, spoilers or strategy assistance because we would like the players to play the game and find resolution on their own.” It also warns that not every gameplay question is covered. For strategy, puzzles, or story explanations, use a game guide or community resource and check that it matches your game and edition.
Where can I save in HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX?
The official HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX manual says you can save from the world map or at field save points. This instruction applies to the game described by that manual; do not assume the exact save system is identical in every Kingdom Hearts title.
