Kirby Air Riders is out now for Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo announced the game in April 2025 as a 2025 release, then listed its release date as November 20, 2025. Here’s what Nintendo says about its modes, online requirements, and a post-launch update.
Is Kirby Air Riders out yet?
Yes. Kirby Air Riders released on November 20, 2025, according to Nintendo UK’s game listing. Nintendo Australia lists the same date in day/month/year format on its official game page.

The 2025 wording in the original announcement was accurate at the time, but it is no longer an upcoming-release description. The game is a Nintendo Switch 2 title.
What is Kirby Air Riders?
Nintendo describes Kirby Air Riders as fast-paced vehicle action. The game was announced during a Nintendo Direct on April 2, 2025, as a new title directed by Masahiro Sakurai. Nintendo’s announcement also noted that the original Kirby Air Ride launched on Nintendo GameCube more than 20 years earlier. Nintendo’s official game materials describe action built around charging, boosting, and spinning to attack rivals. Its August 2025 overview presented new features alongside returning modes, characters, and Air Ride machines, framing the game as a continuation of familiar series material without making a claim about the full roster or course count.
What modes are in Kirby Air Riders?
Nintendo’s materials name four modes:
- Air Ride
- Top Ride
- City Trial
- Road Trip, a single-player story mode
Nintendo’s August 2025 overview discusses the game’s features and returning modes. The mode list is Nintendo’s stated lineup; specific details beyond those descriptions should not be assumed from the names alone.

Does Kirby Air Riders require Nintendo Switch Online?
Nintendo’s product page says: “Nintendo Switch Online membership (sold separately) and Nintendo Account required for online features.” That requirement applies to online features; Nintendo does not say that a membership is needed to play offline. Nintendo Support says a software update became available on June 2, 2026, adding Grand Prix to Air Ride matches in paddocks. This is a post-launch change, so descriptions of the available feature set should be read in the context of that update. Nintendo’s Kirby Air Riders update history lists the change.
