Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World pairs a smoother, sharper presentation with a substantial new story expansion. Reviews report a 60fps experience, but Nintendo’s own materials promise improved frame rates and resolution without specifying a Kirby-specific target. For Switch 2 owners who want more Kirby, the added adventure makes this more than a technical patch; for owners of the original game, the question is whether that content is worth the separate upgrade-pack price.
What’s included in the Switch 2 Edition?
The complete bundle includes the original Kirby and the Forgotten Land and its Switch 2 upgrade pack. The pack adds the Star-Crossed World story, enhanced resolution and frame rates, and new Mouthful Modes. Nintendo sets up the story with a meteor that sends Kirby into uncharted territory. The original game’s 3D platforming, Copy Abilities such as Drill and Ranger, evolvable abilities, and two-player co-op with Bandana Waddle Dee remain part of the package.

Nintendo Life reports that the expansion adds 12 remixed areas, three new transformations, additional collectibles, and new challenges. Its review also notes that players can move between the original and new stages from the same map. TechRadar points to an Ultimate Cup Z EX boss rush in the Coliseum. These specific counts and additions are reported by those outlets, rather than listed in Nintendo’s feature summary.

Does Kirby run at 60fps on Switch 2?
Nintendo describes the edition as “visually enhanced with improved frame rate” and promises enhanced resolution and frame rates, but its official pages do not specify a numeric frame-rate cap or resolution for this game. Nintendo Life and TechRadar each report a 60fps presentation in their reviews. TechRadar additionally reports approximately 1440p docked and 1080p handheld, along with improved loading times; those are the outlet’s review observations, not Nintendo-guaranteed specifications. TechRadar also says the docked image is not as sharp as that of some other Switch 2 editions.

Nintendo Life’s review of the European version, published August 27, 2025, rates the game 9/10 and praises the performance upgrade and expansion. Its main reservation is that repetitive bosses from the original game remain. TechRadar likewise recommends the upgrade pack for its extra areas and smoother play, while criticizing the decision to bundle the visual improvements with paid new content instead of offering them free to owners of the original.
Is Star-Crossed World worth the upgrade?
The choice depends on what you already own and what you want from the new version. If you are new to the game, the bundle gives you the original adventure as well as the expansion. If you already own the Switch release, you can buy the upgrade pack separately rather than buying the complete game again.

The original Switch software remains playable on Nintendo Switch, but Switch 2 Edition features and content can only be played on Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo identifies the full edition as available through physical retail and digital routes; existing owners of the original, physical or digital, can purchase the upgrade pack through Nintendo eShop, Nintendo Store, or video-game retailers. Nintendo Support specifically lists the Kirby upgrade pack for Nintendo eShop on Switch 2 and My Nintendo Store.

Install software update version 1.1.0 to access the added Switch 2 Edition features or content on Switch 2. Nintendo says the update was released on August 20, 2025, and also addressed several issues.
