Before copying files or running repair commands, record three details:
- Which program shows the error? Note the executable or service named in the message.
- When does it appear? Common triggers include starting a print job, installing a printer, signing in to Windows, or launching an unrelated application.
- What architecture is involved? Check whether Windows is 32-bit, 64-bit, or ARM64, and whether the affected application is 32-bit or 64-bit.
kyw8kpsl.dll is usually associated with a Kyocera printer driver, not with Windows itself. The safest repair is to reinstall the correct Kyocera package for the exact printer model instead of downloading the DLL separately.

What kyw8kpsl.dll does
Public file metadata identifies kyw8kpsl.dll as Kyocera Rasterizer Filter, associated with Kyocera Printing System and Kyocera Mita or KYOCERA Corporation software. A rasterizer converts a document or print stream into the image data a printer can process.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteSome file indexes report version 1.0.10.5, a size of approximately 0.13 MB, and a 32-bit build. Those details do not prove that every Kyocera driver package uses the same version or architecture. The exact printer model and driver release containing this file are not publicly confirmed for every package.

This is an application component, not a Windows core DLL. It may be installed with an older Kyocera driver, a related printing utility, or a legacy print workflow. On some systems, the file may be inside a Windows DriverStore FileRepository folder, but the exact path varies by driver package and Windows installation.
Error messages you may see
Typical indexed messages include:
- “The program can’t start because kyw8kpsl.dll is missing from your computer.”
- “Application could not be started because Kyw8kpsl.dll was not found.”
- “Error loading Kyw8kpsl.dll. The specified module could not be found.”
- “The file Kyw8kpsl.dll is missing or corrupted.”
- “Kyw8kpsl.dll file could not be loaded.”
- “The procedure entry point … could not be located in the dynamic link library kyw8kpsl.dll.”
These messages do not all mean the same thing. “The specified module could not be found” can mean that kyw8kpsl.dll exists but one of its dependent files is missing. If an unrelated application names the DLL, inspect that application’s path before assuming the printer driver is responsible.
Fix 1: Repair or reinstall the Kyocera driver
This is the most likely solution, especially after replacing a printer, migrating a print server, removing a legacy driver, or installing a driver incompletely.
Identify the printer package
- Press Windows + I.
- Select Bluetooth & devices on Windows 11, or Devices on Windows 10.
- Select Printers & scanners.
- Look for the Kyocera printer and record its exact model.
- Select the printer and open Printer properties or Manage.
- Check the Advanced tab for the driver name.
Also check installed software:
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Select Installed apps on Windows 11, or Apps & features on Windows 10.
- Search for Kyocera software.
- Record any package name before removing it.
Download the correct package
Use Kyocera’s official support or regional download portal. Select the exact printer model and the installed Windows version. Choose the package that matches the existing workflow, such as:
- KX Driver
- KX V4 Driver
- Classic KPDL or PCL5e driver
Do not assume the newest-looking package is correct. A legacy application may require a classic driver, while a newer Windows installation may need a KX V4 package. Match the installer to Windows and the printer model, including 32-bit or 64-bit support where Kyocera provides separate packages.
Remove and reinstall the printer
If the installer offers Repair, use it first. If repair is unavailable:
- Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select the Kyocera printer.
- Choose Remove.
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Remove the related Kyocera driver utility if it is listed.
- Restart Windows.
- Run the downloaded Kyocera installer as administrator.
- Add the printer again.
- Print a test page.
If the old driver remains after removing the printer, open Control Panel and select Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers. Select Print server properties from the toolbar, open the Drivers tab, select the obsolete Kyocera driver, and choose Remove. Choose the option to remove the driver and driver package when Windows offers it. Restart before installing the replacement.

For this file, the exact Kyocera model package remains the definitive source.
How to tell whether it worked
The repair succeeded if:
- The Kyocera installer completes without an error.
- The printer appears without a warning icon.
- A Windows test page prints.
- The original application starts or completes its print task.
- The DLL error does not return after restarting Windows.
If the same error returns immediately, continue with the quarantine and architecture checks below rather than copying a replacement DLL.
Fix 2: Check Windows Security quarantine
Security software may remove or quarantine a legitimate driver file, or it may correctly identify a tampered copy. Do not restore a file only because its name looks familiar.

- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent events involving Kyocera, the affected application, or
kyw8kpsl.dll. - Open an event and inspect its path and action.
If the file came from an authentic Kyocera installer and its digital signature is valid, reinstall the complete driver package from Kyocera rather than restoring a loose DLL. If Windows Security identifies the file as malicious, unsigned, or located in an unexpected application folder, leave it quarantined and run a full scan.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesTo inspect a file that still exists:
- Right-click it and select Properties.
- Open Digital Signatures if that tab is present.
- Select the signature and choose Details.
- Confirm that Windows reports the signature as valid.
- Check the General and Details tabs for its location and description.
A file inside C:WindowsSystem32DriverStoreFileRepository may be part of a driver package, but that location alone does not prove that the file is safe. Do not manually replace files inside DriverStore.
Fix 3: Check architecture and dependencies
A 64-bit Windows installation can still use a 32-bit Kyocera component when a 32-bit print application needs it. Conversely, placing a 32-bit DLL beside a 64-bit application will not solve an architecture mismatch.
To check Windows:
- Open Settings.
- Select System > About.
- Read System type.
- Note whether Windows is 64-bit, 32-bit, or ARM64.
Then identify the affected program’s location. A program under C:Program Files (x86) is commonly 32-bit, while one under C:Program Files is commonly 64-bit, although the folder alone is not conclusive.
If the message says the specified module cannot be found even though kyw8kpsl.dll is present, reinstall the complete Kyocera package. The missing item may be a dependent DLL, and a complete installer is safer than trying to identify dependencies one at a time.
Do not install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable, DirectX, or .NET solely because this filename is missing. No verified evidence establishes that kyw8kpsl.dll belongs to those runtimes.
Fix 4: Remove stale driver remnants
A failed uninstall can leave a startup entry, print processor, scheduled task, or driver reference behind.
- Remove unused Kyocera printers from Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Open Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
- Uninstall Kyocera software that belongs to the removed printer.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall only the package required by the current printer.
If Windows reports that a program cannot be removed, use Microsoft’s Program Install and Uninstall troubleshooter. It can repair incomplete uninstall data and damaged installer entries.
If the error appears at every sign-in but no Kyocera printer remains installed, check Task Manager > Startup apps for a Kyocera entry. Do not delete random registry entries. Use the original Kyocera uninstaller or a clean driver-removal procedure to remove the orphaned component.

Fix 5: Repair broader Windows corruption
DISM and SFC are secondary fixes here. They repair Windows component and protected system files; they are not guaranteed to restore a third-party Kyocera DriverStore file.
Use them when Windows has other integrity symptoms or when the Kyocera installer itself fails.
- Open Start.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click it and select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Retry the Kyocera driver installation.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC. If SFC reports that it found and repaired files, restart and test again. If it reports that it could not repair some files, do not assume it repaired kyw8kpsl.dll; reinstall the Kyocera driver separately.
Outbyte PC Repair can make the manual process of checking Windows problems less repetitive: its free scan shows what it detects, while repair through the full version handles the reported issues. It is not a substitute for reinstalling the Kyocera package when that package is the missing component.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix 6: Use System Restore after a recent driver change
If the error began immediately after a driver update, printer replacement, or failed uninstall, System Restore may return the driver configuration to an earlier state.
- Press Windows + R.
- Type
rstrui.exe. - Press Enter.
- Select a restore point created before the failure.
- Select Scan for affected programs if available.
- Review the changes.
- Complete the restore and restart Windows.
System Restore normally does not remove personal files, but it can roll back installed programs, drivers, and system settings. Afterward, install the correct Kyocera driver rather than continuing to use an old damaged package.

Do not download a standalone DLL
Random DLL download sites can provide malware, the wrong version, or the wrong architecture. Even a clean copy may not fix the real problem if a dependent file, print processor, or driver registration is missing. It can also leave Windows servicing with a file that did not come from the installed driver package.
Never copy an untrusted file into:
C:WindowsSystem32C:WindowsSysWOW64- An arbitrary application folder
- A DriverStore directory
The safe source is the official Kyocera driver installer for the exact printer model and Windows architecture.
Do not use regsvr32 as a generic repair
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer. There is no verified evidence that this rasterizer filter is a self-registering COM or ActiveX component. Running a command such as:
regsvr32 kyw8kpsl.dll
may simply produce “DllRegisterServer was not found.” It will not repair a missing printer-driver installation.

Do not use Device Manager as the only repair
Device Manager can help identify a broken printer device:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Printers, Print queues, and Software devices.
- Look for a warning icon.
- Right-click the relevant device and select Properties.
- Review the General and Driver tabs.
You can choose Update driver or Uninstall device, but Device Manager may not remove the complete Kyocera software package or print processor. Use the model-specific Kyocera installer for the actual repair.

Windows Features is not the right place to restore this file. Enabling .NET Framework or another optional Windows component will not replace a Kyocera rasterizer DLL unless a separate, documented application requirement exists.
FAQ
Is kyw8kpsl.dll a Windows file?
No. It is associated with Kyocera printer software and is not normally a Windows core component.
Should I put it in System32 or SysWOW64?
No. Do not choose a folder based on the filename or a third-party file listing. Install the matching Kyocera driver and let its installer place the component correctly.
Is the file always 32-bit?
No conclusion is safe for every package. Some public metadata reports a 32-bit build, while file indexes can disagree about architecture. Check the actual signed driver package and the affected application.
Will reinstalling Visual C++ fix it?
There is no verified evidence that this file belongs to Visual C++. Repair the Kyocera driver first.
Why does the error appear when I open a non-printer application?
That application may still load a Kyocera component, or the message may involve a missing dependency. Record the executable path, inspect installed Kyocera software, and check recent quarantine events before removing anything.
What information should I give Kyocera support?
Provide the exact printer model, Windows edition and architecture, Kyocera driver package name, full error text, executable path, DLL path if present, and the result from Windows Security Protection History.
