Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteRiot’s acknowledgment of a missing level icon border issue is not confirmed by the sources available. The Riot notice often associated with missing borders concerns purchased Hall of Legends skin borders, not account-level icon borders. If your level border is missing, the safest next step is to identify which border and screen you mean, then contact Riot Player Support.
What Riot has—and has not—acknowledged
Riot Player Support’s Reward (BE/XP) System Breakdown, dated February 21, 2026, explains that play earns XP and XP raises account level. It lists a Summoner Icon Border among the level 1 rewards and describes milestone rewards beyond level 30. The page does not report an incident involving missing level icon borders or provide a fix for one.
Riot’s Progression Identity Changes post from July 14, 2021 discusses Prestige Level borders as part of player identity and explains border selection and customization. It is background on progression identity, not confirmation of a current missing-border bug.
Riot’s service-status page showed scheduled League maintenance related to patch 16.20 on October 7, 2026. The page reviewed did not show a level-border notice, but a status page is a snapshot; that absence does not rule out a localized, account-specific, or later issue. Check the League of Legends service-status page for current notices.

Do not confuse a level border with other borders
Players use “border” for several different cosmetics and contexts. A report about one category does not establish a problem with another.
| What you mean | What it refers to | What the available evidence says |
|---|---|---|
| Level or Summoner Icon Border | A progression-related frame associated with account level. | Riot’s reward breakdown lists a Summoner Icon Border among level rewards, but does not acknowledge a missing-level-border incident. |
| Skin border | A frame associated with a particular champion skin. | Riot acknowledged a display issue for purchased Hall of Legends Legend Collection skin borders; this is a separate issue. |
| Ranked border | A ranked identity element that may appear in a particular game context. | A community post describes a border appearing as a ranked border in a loading-screen context, but does not establish a level-border bug. |
| Honor badge | An honor-related identity element, not an account-level icon border. | The sources reviewed do not establish a connection between an honor badge and the reported missing level border. |
The Riot notice that may be causing confusion
On June 11, 2025, SkyRemnants of Riot Games Player Support published HoL Legend Collection Skin Borders Issue. The notice says: “We’re investigating an issue that causes Skin Borders included in the Legend Collection bundles to not show once purchased, unless the League Client is restarted.” Its scope is purchased skin borders included in those bundles. It does not say account-level icon borders are affected.

Community reports may help identify similar symptoms, but they are not official confirmation. A February 2026 Reddit post about an icon border describes a selected border reportedly remaining as a ranked border in a loading-screen context; replies disagree about the expected behavior and scope. A September 2026 comment in the Patch 26.19 bug megathread describes skin borders disappearing with certain chromas, which is a different category.
