League of Legends’ behavioral Ranked Restrictions are no longer applied. Riot introduced them in Patch 13.19 in 2023, then ended their use starting with Patch 26.04. The old rule required affected players to complete five non-ranked games before they could queue for ranked again.
What was the League of Legends Ranked Restriction?
Riot introduced Ranked Restrictions as a penalty for disruptive behavior in its Patch 13.19 notes, published September 26, 2023. While restricted, a player could not enter ranked game modes. To clear the restriction, the player had to complete five games in non-ranked queues.
Which queues counted?
Riot named Blind Pick, Draft Pick, ARAM, and rotating game modes as eligible queues. The requirement was five completed games in those non-ranked modes; it was not a five-game ranked penalty.
How do Ranked Restrictions work now?
They do not currently apply. Riot Support’s Ranked Restrictions article, attributed to Laserface and dated June 1, 2026, states: “Since Patch 26.04, Ranked Restrictions are no longer applied.” The article points players seeking information about penalties to Riot’s resources on AFK Penalties, Chat Restrictions, and the Community Pact.

Riot’s patch schedule listed Patch 26.04 for February 19, 2026, but says scheduled dates can change. The schedule alone does not verify the release date; the current-status point is Riot Support’s statement that restrictions stopped being applied since that patch.
Are ranked restrictions the same as ranked duo limits?
No. “Ranked restriction” can also refer informally to rules about which players may queue together. Riot’s Patch 26.1 notes discuss apex duo queue eligibility for Solo/Duo, including region-specific rules for Korea and China. Those rules concern party eligibility, not a behavioral penalty: they limit who can queue together based on rank rather than locking an individual out of ranked until games are completed.
