Yes. PlayStation Network leaks preceded Sony’s September 24, 2024 State of Play, where Aspyr and Crystal Dynamics officially announced Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered. The collection later launched on December 10, 2024. Contemporaneous reporting confirms that sequence, but does not identify the original leaker or establish an exact first-post time.
What leaked, and what Sony confirmed
GameSpot reported on September 24, 2024, that PlayStation Network leaks had turned out to be true: the State of Play trailer confirmed a collection remastering both Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver and Soul Reaver 2, with a December 10 release date. The report credits Crystal Dynamics and Aspyr as the teams behind it. GameSpot’s contemporaneous report supports the broad timeline, not a claim about who first posted the leak or precisely when.
Sony’s September 24 State of Play recap included the reveal and described the announcement as covering PS4 and PS5. That PlayStation-focused presentation did not mean the remasters were exclusive to PlayStation.
Which platforms got the collection?
Aspyr and Crystal Dynamics’ announcement named Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam for the December 10, 2024 launch.

The collection also includes modern and classic control options, an upgraded camera, a map and compass, photo mode, achievements and trophies, an interactive lore map, concept art, and Lost Levels material. Aspyr’s PlayStation Blog feature overview discusses the visual toggle and control and camera updates.

Aspyr Director of Product Chris Bashaar said Crystal Dynamics provided the source code, allowing the team to start with the original engine and a complete set of assets. He also described the art goal as making the games “look the way they did in your mind.” Those are Aspyr’s descriptions of its development foundation and intent, rather than independent measures of fidelity or performance.

Aspyr’s December 4, 2024 bonus-materials overview describes four Lost Levels: Undercity, Smokestack, Retreat, and Forges. These are preserved cut-content artifacts, not polished, complete additions to the campaign. The post cautions that they may contain missing textures or areas that feel unfinished. Aspyr Associate Brand Manager Matthew Ray characterized them as “an interactive museum,” preserved in their original state.
