LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is a strong choice if you want a playful retelling of all nine Skywalker films, a large world to explore, and local split-screen co-op. Review excerpts praise its scale, humor, and content, but also point to simple gameplay and occasional technical or pacing problems. Whether it is right for you depends largely on how much you enjoy exploration and collectibles—and how much depth you expect from combat.
What reviewers praise—and what they criticize
Critic excerpts collected on Metacritic highlight the game’s expansive take on the LEGO Star Wars universe, its humor, and the amount of content. They also show why the game is not an equally strong fit for every player: some reviewers found the gameplay simplistic, while others noted technical blemishes or a difference in quality between tightly designed missions and open areas.

Scale, detail, and humor
GamesRadar+ called the game “A breathtakingly expansive and authentic recreation of the core Star Wars universe in LEGO,” while qualifying that its gameplay is “predictably simplistic at times.” That review, dated April 4, 2022, captures a key trade-off: the appeal is as much in the world and its LEGO-style presentation as in mechanical complexity.
Camera, AI, glitches, and open-area pacing
In another excerpt dated April 4, 2022, PlayStation LifeStyle praised the familiar LEGO world but said camera and AI issues, along with TT Games glitches, affected parts of the game. These are reported review observations, not a current technical comparison across platforms.
#1 Best Overall
- The galaxy is yours with Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, Play all nine saga films and experience fun filled adventure in a galaxy far, far away
- Play through all nine films in a new, fun filled adventure
Gamer.no’s excerpt draws a distinction between the game’s more tightly designed linear sections and its open areas, which it criticized as lacking activity. If you mainly want focused story missions, that distinction matters less than it will if you plan to spend most of your time roaming between objectives.
What you play
The game adapts all nine films in the Skywalker Saga. You can start with any of the three trilogies, then move between story missions and activities across the galaxy. The LEGO Group’s launch announcement describes exploration, quests, puzzles, combat on foot and in space, and Kyber Bricks used to unlock class abilities.

Steam describes more than 300 playable characters, more than 100 vehicles, and 23 planets. StarWars.com describes more than 300 characters and over 20 unlockable planets. These are publisher and store descriptions; the planet wording differs by source, so treat the figures as descriptions of scale rather than a single universal count.
Is it good for kids and co-op?
Steam lists both single-player and shared/split-screen co-op. That makes local co-op a documented option for playing together, though it does not by itself establish that every age group will enjoy the same parts of the game.

The LEGO Group presented the game at launch as an accessible entry point for kids and families. That is promotional language rather than an independent assessment. For a family deciding whether to play together, the most practical fit is its approachable LEGO tone and shared local play; players wanting intricate combat or consistently busy exploration may find it less satisfying.
Which platform should you buy it on?
The LEGO Group announced versions for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The available review excerpts do not establish a reliable current performance ranking across those platforms or hardware configurations. Choose based on the system you own and the people you want to play with, and check the current store listing for platform compatibility before buying.

At launch, the LEGO Group described the Deluxe Edition as including the game and Character Collection (Season Pass). Its launch announcement listed seven packs: The Mandalorian Season 1, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Classic Characters, Trooper Pack, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, The Mandalorian Season 2, and The Bad Batch.
That is historical launch information, not a guarantee about every current listing. Steam presents additional DLC and a Galactic Edition as store products, so check the specific edition’s current description in your region before purchasing. Confirm whether it includes the base game and which downloadable content is included.
What to check before buying
- Current price: Launch suggested prices were $59.99 / £49.99 / €59.99 for Standard Edition and $69.99 / £59.99 / €69.99 for Deluxe Edition. Those are historical launch prices, not today’s prices.
- Format and edition: Confirm whether a listing is physical or digital, and whether the base game and the DLC you want are included.
- Platform: Verify compatibility with your console or PC in the current store listing.
- Physical collectible: Physical retail Deluxe versions included an exclusive Luke Skywalker with Blue Milk minifigure at launch. Do not assume a present-day listing includes it.
- Old tie-in codes: The LEGO Group announced that buyers of LEGO Star Wars The Razor Crest set 75292 would receive an in-game ship unlock code. This was a historical promotion; it does not establish that the set is available now or that an unused code remains valid.
How it compares with LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga
The available review excerpts do not establish a detailed side-by-side comparison with LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga. What can be said from the product description is that The Skywalker Saga covers all nine Skywalker films and combines story chapters with planet exploration and other activities. If your decision depends on a precise comparison of mechanics, level design, or content between the two games, the evidence here does not settle it.
