The international model kept the Y700 (2023)’s central appeal: an unusually compact 8.8-inch, 144Hz Android gaming tablet powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.

Y700 (2023) vs. Legion Tab: What actually launched?
The Legion Y700 (2023) was Lenovo’s China-market name. The international version was marketed as the Lenovo Legion Tab, making it a regional rebrand and rollout of the Y700 (2023)-derived hardware rather than an entirely new tablet. Contemporaneous launch coverage identified the Legion Tab as a rebranded Legion Y700 (2023).
This should not be confused with the earlier Legion Y700 (2022), or with later Y700 and Legion Tab generations using newer processors and other revised hardware.

Release date, regions and price
- July 2023: The Y700 (2023) launched in China.
- March 13, 2024: Lenovo announced the international Legion Tab.
- Later March 2024: Planned availability began in selected international markets.
- Launch price: €599 in the Eurozone for the 12GB RAM/256GB storage configuration.
The initial international rollout covered Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. The United States was not confirmed in the March 2024 launch reporting, so the accurate description is a regional international launch, not a simultaneous worldwide release. The €599 figure was the historical Eurozone launch MSRP; it should not be treated as a current 2026 street price or converted into a fixed U.S. price.

These specifications come from Lenovo’s Legion Tab PSREF. Actual charging speed and battery life depend on the adapter, software, brightness, wireless use and other conditions. Lenovo’s battery figures are laboratory estimates, not guaranteed gaming runtimes.
Why the compact tablet mattered for gaming
The Legion Tab occupied a niche that most Android tablets ignored: flagship-class performance in a body small enough to hold like a large handheld. Its 8.8-inch display was more portable than the 11- to 13-inch panels common among Android tablets, while its 2560×1600 resolution and 144Hz refresh rate suited fast games, cloud gaming, remote play and emulation.
The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 remained a powerful Android gaming platform for its generation. Lenovo also included a Legion ColdFront cooling system with a large vapor chamber, intended to help manage heat during sustained workloads. That does not guarantee a particular frame rate: performance varies by game, resolution, refresh-rate mode, firmware and thermal settings.

The size is also the main compromise. It is excellent for handheld-style gaming, reading and media, but provides less space for split-screen apps, documents and desktop-style productivity than a larger tablet. Its glossy screen may also be less comfortable under bright lighting.
What the two USB-C ports are useful for
The dual-port design was one of the Legion Tab’s most practical gaming features. The faster port supports USB 3.2 Gen 2 transfer speeds and DisplayPort output, while the other is a slower USB 2.0 connection. This can make it possible to charge while using an external monitor or USB-C accessory on the appropriate port.
Possible uses include:
- External-monitor gaming or a desktop-style setup
- USB-C audio while charging
- Wired controllers, hubs and other peripherals
- Moving large game, media or emulation files through the faster connection
The ports do not support simultaneous charging. Their capabilities differ, and real-world transfer speeds depend on the cable and connected device.
Software and ownership concerns
The international Legion Tab launched with Android 13. Contemporaneous reporting described Android 15 as the expected final major Android version, but that was not a universal current guarantee. Update policies can vary by region and configuration, so owners should check Lenovo’s software-upgrade support information for their exact model.

That relatively limited support horizon matters in 2026. The hardware can still be attractive for gaming, but buyers prioritizing long-term Android updates should compare newer products before paying a premium for an older import.
Buying an imported Y700: checks that matter
Chinese-market Y700 listings may cost less than the official European launch price, but an imported unit is not automatically equivalent to an official international Legion Tab. “Global ROM” in a marketplace listing is not, by itself, proof of an official Lenovo international SKU.
Before buying, verify:
- The exact model number and region of sale
- Whether Google Play is certified and working
- How over-the-air updates are delivered
- Whether the bootloader or firmware was altered by the seller
- Warranty eligibility and local repair coverage
- Charger plug, voltage compatibility and included accessories
- The retailer’s return policy
Do not assume that flashing another region’s firmware is safe. Model-specific instructions and support eligibility must be verified before attempting any software modification. Accessory bundles, cases and chargers can also vary by market; Lenovo provides an accessory compatibility resource.

It makes the most sense for buyers who specifically want a compact Android gaming tablet. The combination of an 8.8-inch 144Hz display, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, active cooling, microSD expansion and two USB-C ports remains distinctive.

It is a weaker choice if you need cellular connectivity, GPS, a headphone jack, long-term Android support or a large workspace for productivity. The €599 launch price was high compared with some larger mainstream Android tablets, although the Legion Tab offered gaming-focused features those alternatives often lacked.
In 2026, avoid treating the old €599 MSRP as a current deal benchmark. Compare the total cost of an imported 2023/Y700-derived unit—including tax, shipping, warranty risk and returns—with newer officially supported tablets available in your country.
Do not confuse it with the U.S. Legion Tab Gen 3
As of August 18, 2026, Lenovo’s U.S. store prominently lists a newer Legion Tab Gen 3. That is a different generation and should not be used as evidence that the original Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Legion Tab remains officially sold in the United States. Its specifications, price and support should be evaluated separately.
