- Which program displays the message? Check the error window title, the shortcut you used, or Task Manager.
- When does it appear? Note whether it happens when launching a media player, game, launcher, or at Windows startup.
- Did anything change first? Common triggers include uninstalling or updating VLC, removing Ace Stream or Torrent Stream-era software, antivirus quarantine, disk cleanup, or moving the application folder.
- Is the application still installed? A startup message may come from an orphaned entry after the original program was removed.
- Is it 32-bit or 64-bit? The commonly indexed
libtsplayercore.dllbuild is associated with the 32-bit VLC 2.0.5 codebase, but that metadata is not vendor-certified. Do not substitute a DLL based only on a file listing. - What does the complete error say? “The specified module could not be found” can mean a dependency is missing even when
libtsplayercore.dllis present. - Does the problem affect every Windows account? A single-profile failure may point to a per-user startup entry or application configuration.
What libtsplayercore.dll belongs to
libtsplayercore.dll is an application DLL associated with the old VLC media player 2.0.5 codebase from VideoLAN. VideoLAN’s official archive confirms the VLC 2.0.5 release and provides Windows packages, but it does not separately document this DLL’s version, size, hashes, or architecture.
Some VLC-derived applications, including older Ace Stream and Torrent Stream software, also listed the file among their installed components. That does not prove that every program using the DLL came from VideoLAN. The correct location is normally the folder containing the application’s executable, not C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64.

Fix 1: Repair the application that reports the error
This is the safest and most likely solution.
For an installed Windows app
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Open Installed apps.
- Find the program named in the error.
- Select its three-dot menu.
- Choose Advanced options.
- Select Repair.
- Start the application again.
Windows does not provide Advanced options for every traditional desktop program. Microsoft documents the available repair paths in its guide to repairing apps and programs.
If the error remains, return to the same page and choose Reset only if you are willing to discard that app’s local settings and data.
For traditional desktop software
- Press Windows + R.
- Type
appwiz.cpland press Enter. - Find the affected program.
- Right-click it and choose Repair, or select Change and follow the installer.
- Restart Windows if the installer requests it.
- Launch the application again.
If there is no repair option, uninstall the affected application, restart, and reinstall it from the original installer or the developer’s official download page. If the program is VLC, use VideoLAN’s official current download page or its official archive. Install the old 2.0.5-era package only when another application specifically requires those legacy files.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Do not uninstall VLC first unless VLC is the program producing the error. A VLC-derived application may have bundled its own copy, and removing VLC may not restore that application’s files.
For a game or launcher
Use the launcher’s file-repair feature:
- Open the game launcher.
- Open the library or installed-games list.
- Select the affected game.
- Open its settings or three-dot menu.
- Choose Verify integrity, Repair, Scan and repair, or the equivalent.
- Wait for the scan to replace missing files.
- Start the game from the launcher.
This is preferable to copying a DLL because it restores the matching file set and any dependencies expected by that executable.
Fix 2: Reinstall the complete parent application
If repair fails or the program folder was moved, a clean reinstall is the next step.
- Back up saved settings or profiles if the program stores them locally.
- Uninstall the affected application from Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Restart Windows.
- Download the installer from the software publisher or use the original installer.
- Install to its normal location.
- Start the program before restoring custom plugins or add-ons.
If the error began after antivirus action, check quarantine before reinstalling.
Fix 3: Check Windows Security quarantine
Windows Security may have removed or isolated the file.
- Open Start and search for Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Protection history.
- Expand recent detections.
- Check whether the affected application folder or
libtsplayercore.dllappears. - Do not restore the file until you have confirmed the application came from a trustworthy installer.
- If it is legitimate, follow the available Restore or Allow on device option.
- Reinstall the complete application if the file was changed or removed.
Microsoft explains how Protection history works in its Windows Security documentation. If the installer or program is untrusted, do not create an antivirus exclusion. Remove it and obtain the application from its official source instead.
Fix 4: Resolve architecture and dependency problems
A 32-bit application generally needs 32-bit dependencies, even on 64-bit Windows. A 64-bit application needs 64-bit dependencies. Do not replace a 32-bit application DLL with a similarly named 64-bit file.
Check the executable:
- Start the affected program, if possible.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Select Details.
- Right-click a column heading and choose Select columns.
- Enable Platform if your Windows version provides it.
- Check whether the process is 32-bit or 64-bit.
You can also right-click the program shortcut, choose Open file location, then inspect the executable and its installation folder. The indexed metadata for libtsplayercore.dll commonly identifies a 32-bit build, but conflicting third-party data exists, so treat that information as a clue rather than proof.
Check for Microsoft runtime errors
If the message also names msvcp100.dll, msvcr100.dll, or another Microsoft runtime file, install the matching Visual C++ Redistributable from Microsoft’s latest supported Visual C++ downloads.
- A 32-bit application on 64-bit Windows usually needs the x86 package.
- A 64-bit application needs the x64 package.
- Multiple Visual C++ generations can coexist.
Do not assume libtsplayercore.dll is itself a Visual C++ Redistributable file. It is an application library, and installing a runtime will not replace a missing parent-application DLL.
Interpret “specified module could not be found”
If libtsplayercore.dll is visibly present beside the executable but Windows still reports that the module cannot be found, one of its dependent DLLs may be absent or incompatible. Reinstalling the entire parent application is safer than trying to identify and download individual dependencies.
Fix 5: Remove a stale startup entry
If the error appears immediately after signing in and the original application no longer exists, Windows may be trying to launch a leftover entry.

- Open Startup apps.
- Look for an entry associated with the removed media application, launcher, or streaming software.
- Right-click it and choose Disable.
- Restart Windows.
Also check Settings > Apps > Startup. If the message continues, inspect the application’s uninstaller rather than deleting random registry entries. You can also open Task Scheduler, review Task Scheduler Library, and disable a task only after confirming its executable path points to the removed program.
Fix 6: Repair Windows components
Use this step when several unrelated applications show DLL errors, Windows itself behaves abnormally, or system corruption is suspected. It will not recreate a missing libtsplayercore.dll in an application folder.

Repeatedly hunting for damaged components by hand is slow and does not identify every cause. Outbyte PC Repair can scan for problems and show what needs attention; repairs are performed by the full version, and reinstalling the application remains the definitive fix when its own DLL is missing.

A normal missing libtsplayercore.dll error is not a reason to replace every driver. Consider drivers only if the application also fails to detect audio, video, capture, or playback hardware.
- Press Windows + X.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Sound, video and game controllers and, if relevant, Display adapters.
- Right-click the affected device.
- Choose Update driver.
- Select Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows if a driver was installed.
You can also choose Properties > Driver to inspect the provider and date. Do not remove a working device driver merely because this DLL is missing.
Finding the correct driver manually can mean checking hardware IDs and comparing packages. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan and identify outdated drivers; its full version performs the driver installation, but updating a driver will not replace the parent application’s missing DLL.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWhat not to do
Do not copy the file into System32 or SysWOW64
A standalone DLL may be the wrong version, wrong architecture, corrupted, or malicious. Placing it in a Windows folder can create search-order conflicts and affect unrelated programs.
Do not use random DLL download archives
A download page cannot reliably prove that its copy matches your application, installer, architecture, or dependencies. It may also leave the damaged parent application untouched. Use the application’s official installer, original media, or launcher repair function.
Do not run regsvr32 for this file
regsvr32 is designed for DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer. A private VLC-derived player or codec library is normally loaded directly by its application. Registering it globally is not a generic missing-DLL repair and can produce another error. Microsoft documents the command as a DLL registration tool.
Do not enable random Windows Features
Open Start, search Turn Windows features on or off, and review the list only if the application’s documentation specifically requires a Windows component. Enabling legacy features will not normally restore libtsplayercore.dll.

Use System Restore only for a recent change
If the failure began immediately after a software removal, update, or system change, System Restore may help when a restore point predates the problem.
- Press Windows + R.
- Type
rstrui.exeand press Enter. - Select Next.
- Choose a restore point from before the failure.
- Select Scan for affected programs if available.
- Confirm the restore and restart Windows.
System Restore does not replace a complete application reinstall and may not be available. Microsoft’s System Restore guidance explains what it changes.
FAQ
Is libtsplayercore.dll a Windows file?
No verified evidence identifies it as a Windows component. It is associated with an application, particularly older VLC-derived software.
Can I download just this DLL?
That is not a safe repair. Obtain the complete program from its official publisher or repair it through its launcher.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Does installing the newest VLC fix the error?
Only if VLC itself is the application that needs the file. A separate legacy program may require its own bundled files and may not work with a newer VLC installation.
Why does the message say the module is missing when the file exists?
A dependency of libtsplayercore.dll may be missing, incompatible, or blocked. Reinstall the parent application and inspect any additional runtime error named in the complete message.
What if the program was already removed?
Disable the stale startup entry after confirming its executable path. If the error appears only at boot, the program may no longer be installed at all.
What information should I provide for further diagnosis?
Record the exact error text, application name and path, Windows version, application version, whether it is 32-bit or 64-bit, recent antivirus detections, and whether reinstalling the parent program changed the message.
