If Loco Motive is crashing on Nintendo Switch, install any available game update, restart the console, and check for a system update. Robust Games said patch 1.0.4 should have resolved most launch crashes and soft locks, but did not claim that every crash was fixed. Retest the same point in the game after each step; if the problem continues, note the exact error and where it occurs.
Was the Loco Motive Switch crash fixed?
Robust Games acknowledged launch-period crashes and soft locks. In a known-issues post dated November 25, 2024, and last edited December 15, the developer said that “Crashes and Soft Locks should be mostly resolved after patch 1.0.4” and asked players to report further issues. In a later statement in January 2025, it said patch 1.0.4 addressed the majority of reported launch issues while noting that lingering bugs remained to investigate. How to troubleshoot Loco Motive crashing on Switch
Follow these steps in order. After each one, return to the point where the error occurred and check whether the problem is gone, as Nintendo recommends.

- Check for a Loco Motive software update. Install any update available for the game, then launch it again.
- Restart the console. Open Power Options and choose the restart option. If the Switch is frozen and will not respond, use Nintendo’s separate forced-shutdown guidance rather than treating it as a normal restart. Nintendo: game closes with an error
- Check for a Nintendo Switch system update. Install the latest system software offered by the console, then retry the game. - Retry the same point in the game. Make a note of whether the crash happens again at the same action, location, or chapter, or whether it occurs elsewhere.
If the crash keeps happening
Use Nintendo’s support guidance for the exact error message or code shown on screen, and contact Nintendo support as directed there. If you report the issue to Robust Games, include enough detail for the developer to understand and reproduce it. The reviewed official guidance does not identify a universal cause or a specific accessory or purchase that fixes these crashes.
- The exact error text or code, if one appears
- The game version shown on your console
- Your Switch model
- The chapter, location, or action that triggers the crash
- Whether it happens again after updating and restarting
