Lost and Found Co. is easiest when you search methodically rather than quickly. There is no timer, items are hand-placed, and most “one item left” problems have a predictable cause: the object is behind a clickable prop, belongs to an unfinished Quest chain, or is a tiny item with an awkward hitbox. Finish the main story chain in each stage, then return for Requests, Juju and other optional objectives. Read the exact wording of each task, clear a room in layers, and save Juju for the final stubborn search. This guide explains the search system, the first five chapters, progression rules, secret rooms, hint economy and recovery steps for a stage that refuses to turn green.
What should a new player know first?
You play Ducky, a duck transformed into a human intern for the magical startup founded by Mei, a nearly forgotten dragon goddess. The company returns lost belongings around Plumville while rebuilding Mei’s fading reputation. The tone is humorous, anime-like and comforting, not a grim detective story. The official premise is to “Find lost items, solve puzzles, and help a tiny dragon regain her power!”

Search scenes are fixed rather than procedurally random. The official FAQ says every object is hand-placed, and the art and animation are hand-drawn rather than AI-generated. Bit Egg’s October 2026 press material says there are more than 10,000 hand-drawn, fully animated objects; CEO Richmond Lee separately described more than 15,000 hand-drawn objects and characters. Those figures count different things, so they should not be treated as one total.
- No timer: scan at your own pace. GosuGamers reviewer Anna Bernardo specifically noted that there is no ticking clock or forced urgency.
- Most misses are visual: a shelf edge, drawer, plant, helmet, bush or window frame can hide the target.
- Progression is layered: Story Cases advance the campaign; Requests build the company’s standing and unlock later story; optional objectives and Juju provide cleanup goals and achievements.
- The hub matters: completed jobs send gifts by mail and expand Ducky’s Room, where furniture can be resized, rotated, layered, recoloured and lit.
The launch-era FAQ listed 11 Story levels and 16 Request levels, with roughly 10 hours for a normal story clear and roughly 20 hours for completionists. Later post-launch maps bring the game to more than 30 hand-drawn levels and 20-plus hours, according to Nintendo announcement text from October 2026. A first story run and a full run of the expanded game are therefore different targets.

How do I search a crowded scene without missing items?
Use a repeatable sweep. The game rewards attention, not frantic clicking; as Casual Game Guides puts it, “Usually the answer is not to click faster.”
- Read the list and its wording. Note whether an entry is a normal visible item, an Obscured item or a Quest item. Translation can be imperfect, so trust the object’s shape as well as its English name.
- Divide the scene into layers. Start with skyline and hanging props, then shelves and counters, then tables and floor clutter. In a multi-floor location, finish one floor before jumping elsewhere.
- Clear one zone completely. Sweep a room, shopfront or side of the street from left to right. Pan across packed shelves instead of clicking randomly.
- Zoom and center your clicks. Tiny props may have an awkward hitbox. Click the middle of the visible shape, not a transparent edge or the part hidden behind another object.
- Inspect interaction-looking surfaces. Check sign edges, shelf lips, trays, window frames, drawers, boxes, bags, plants and doors even when they are not named on the list.
- Re-read the task after every interaction. A completed objective can add a new target or change the wording of the remaining one.
Checkpoint Gaming describes the normal list hints as short and inconsistently useful. Regular text hints are free but can be vague. Side missions do not provide hints, so the layer sweep is especially important there.

Obscured means the item is inside or behind something you must open or move first. Quest means finding the item starts the next objective, usually nearby. Casual Game Guides defines them as “Obscured means the item is hidden inside or behind something clickable. Quest means the item opens more objectives after you find it.”
Obscured items
Look for containers and props that make physical sense: a freezer containing taiyaki, a Viking helmet covering a frog, a drawer hiding an object, a cooler containing a drink, or a hen coop concealing an egg. A yellow hand icon can mark an obscured item in some stages. Click the blocking prop, then search the newly exposed area rather than leaving the room.
Quest chains
Quest entries often show a small text box with an ellipsis. Clicking A enables B, and B may enable C. The 20 main objectives in Going Viral are arranged as 10 such pairs. If the stage is still incomplete, return to the room where the first item appeared and follow every new prompt before exploring another location.
How do Juju and hints work?
Juju are optional, grey or slightly wobbly hidden collectibles. Finding one gives you a resource for a more pointed hint later. They are not simply another item-list category: some appear only after you click a bush, helmet, cooler, hen coop, painting or well, and some spawn when an objective is completed.

- Perform a second, slower layer sweep for grey or wobbly props.
- Collect Juju that become visible after interactions.
- Spend a Juju on the last genuinely stubborn object, not the first vague clue in a cluttered room.
GameGrin notes that hints can be used without a penalty for players who want a relaxed experience. Checkpoint Gaming found early Juju scarcity frustrating, which is why saving them for cleanup is more efficient. Some stages have no Juju at all; an absent stage in a Juju checklist does not necessarily indicate a missing collectible. In The Cursed Memento, specifically, collect Juju that appear after completed objectives before exiting.
What is the best progression order?
For most beginners, use a story-first route: complete the main chain, move on, and replay stages later for optional objectives. A 100%-as-you-go route is valid but makes the first visit much longer and can cause burnout in dense stages such as Hop Street, Jolly Jug Isle and Apartment Apocalypse.

Story Cases
Story Cases move the campaign and teach new hiding patterns. Requests are client jobs in smaller or themed locations; completing them raises the company’s standing and unlocks later story cases. Skipping every Request can stall the campaign.
Optional cleanup
After the main chain is complete, return for side objectives, Juju, photographs and collection sets. Optional objectives add jokes, interactions and stage-specific rewards. They are not required for the main clear, and Checkpoint Gaming reports that side missions have no hints.

Decorating and rewards
Cases and Requests produce gifts delivered by mail. The office and Ducky’s Room are progression rewards, not a separate app: use the editor to resize, rotate and layer furniture, and visit the Kit Shop for virtual decor, including Halloween items added in the October 2026 update.
How do I clear the first five chapters?
The opening route teaches nearly every search rule you will need later. Use it as a practical tutorial rather than trying to memorize every future map.
Chapter 1: Unlucky Ducky — Plum Dragon Shrine
This tutorial emphasizes that a target can be visible yet very small. The five main objectives can be cleared in this order:
- Mei’s Phone: inspect the dirt in front of the shrine steps for the small orange phone.
- Peach: search the cherry blossom tree.
- Small Dragon Statue: check the right-side garden.
- Lotus Flower: look low in the left pond, below the statue area.
- Ducky: inspect the pond surface among the lily pads.
Some walkthroughs describe the phone as being in the mid-lake area, but the useful lesson is the same: zoom in on the shrine-and-pond scene and inspect small shapes. Clicking Ducky triggers Mei’s transformation and begins Chapter 2.

Chapter 2: The Suspicious Fox — Kit Shop and the foxes’ van
This is the first deliberate Obscured-item lesson:
- Fox Mask — upper-right shelf.
- Tanuki — under the hanging shirts beside the red refrigerator.
- Taiyaki — inside the freezer; open it first.
- Frog — under the Viking helmet on the top shelf; click the helmet.
- Mei’s Phone — outside on the bench.
- Potion — on the top floor inside the treasure chest.
If a listed object is not sitting on a surface, open the container or move the prop that could cover it. This pattern returns with microwaves, cigarette displays, coolers, suitcases and hen coops.
Chapter 3: Going Viral — Plum Dragon Shrine
This is where the full Quest system begins. Stay in the shrine area and finish each pair before wandering:

- Crown on a streetlight, then the princess in rags.
- Scythe in the lake, then the Grim Reaper.
- Cane in a golf bag, then the old lady.
- Statue wig, then the bald man.
- Halo on the beggar, then the angel with a doughnut.
These ten pairs account for 20 main objectives. When one target seems to vanish, inspect the same zone for the newly enabled partner.
Chapter 4: An Important Meeting — OK Tower
This is a compact clue hunt for a fancy mask, shrine miniature, handsome portrait and magazine. Afterward, talk to Kit back at the shrine; that conversation unlocks the next main quest.
Chapter 5: The First Request — Candy Corner
The first real client job introduces secret-room logic:
- Hit the vending machine to dislodge the grape soda.
- Open Granny’s door to enter the secret room and collect the candy cane.
- Drop an apple on the sleeping child in the upper-right area.
- Find the large black cat on the far left.
The door is not on the item list, but opening it is necessary. Later secret rooms follow the same principle.
What should I do in later puzzle types?
Once the first five chapters are familiar, most stages combine a few recurring interaction types rather than introducing wholly new rules.
Multi-step jobs
In Toy Time Panic at Sunshine Shopping Arcade, turn off the breaker, clean the mess and then click the worker to check out customers. Dress the girl in the clothing shop, and click the panda’s wand to transform a child into a magical girl. The required order matters; an apparently inactive character may be waiting for the previous step.
Environmental puzzles
Some targets are activated by changing the scene: hit a vending machine, drop an apple on a sleeper, or move the buoys in Smoothie Showdown until each beeps twice to reveal Ghost Island. In My Summer Memories, lighting lampposts reveals a Juju. In Master of Findjutsu, a ninja technique clears rocks from a well.
Secret rooms
Examples include Granny’s room, the ninja room in Master of Findjutsu, the three-Juju space inside the Last Supper painting in The Accursed Antique Shop, and the mouse hole in Missing Meow. Community walkthrough replies note that the ninja rooms open after the first main quest in that stage; finish the initial chain before searching for them.

Collections
Optional sets include socks, toy mice, Juju and Instapix-style photos of special characters such as John Lemon and Catlady. A sock inside a plant is a typical example of why a second prop sweep matters.
Which stages are most likely to cause “one item left” panic?
For 100% cleanup, Casual Game Guides identifies Hop Street (What an Unlucky Day), Jolly Jug Isle (Smoothie Showdown), Nekoten Cafe (Missing Meow), Breezy Hill Heights (Apartment Apocalypse), Leo Family’s Home (The Morning Madness) and Kenta’s House (Playtime at Kenta’s) as particularly busy. Approach them with a written zone checklist rather than repeatedly crossing the whole map.

- Revisit every container and clickable door.
- Check whether a Quest target has spawned nearby.
- Search the edges of plants, shelves and furniture for half-visible items.
- Use a Juju hint only after this second pass.
“Stage won’t go green” usually means an Obscured prop or Quest chain remains, not that the item list is random.

Use this recovery order before restarting the whole game:
- Reread the exact task wording. A Quest entry may be asking for the next target, not the object you just found.
- Finish the current room’s chain. Return to the location where the last item was found and inspect nearby characters and props.
- Repeat the layer sweep. Look behind doors, drawers, bushes, helmets, plants, boxes and shelf lips; click the center of tiny shapes.
- Use a hint or Juju. Regular hints are free; a Juju gives a more pointed clue but consumes the collectible.
- Reset the stage. Open the stage, navigate to its menu and choose Reset Stage. This replays one level without clearing the entire save.
- Visit the lobby and talk to key characters. Some progression depends on a conversation after a case.
The official FAQ’s full-save option is Lobby → Settings → Clear All Data; reserve it for a genuine fresh start. Early patches fixed disappearing key characters, immediate-exit save failures, the What an Unlucky Day energy-drink quest, Apartment Apocalypse graffiti cleanup, a Cursed Memento camera freeze, the Talk to Mallet softlock, Ducky’s Room tutorial support, Allergy Season time-change issues and incorrect UI fonts. If an old video says Mallet is permanently missing after Story 11, look around the shrine and speak with him after completing the current chain rather than assuming the historical softlock still applies.
To reduce save risk, do not quit immediately after collecting an item. Leave the stage normally, return to the lobby and speak to the relevant characters before closing the game.

Should I aim for 100% completion?
Choose story-first if you want the smoothest learning curve: finish Unlucky Ducky through the campaign, then replay stages for Requests and collectibles. Choose 100%-as-you-go if you enjoy exhaustive searches and do not mind revisiting dense rooms. The launch achievement list contains 27 Steam achievements tied to 100% completion of specific stages. The current list does not give separate achievements to Clubhouse of the Dead, The End of Summer Memories, The Stumbling Steps, Fangtastic Feast, Master of Findjutsu, Finding Familiars or Duckinator 3029, so a post-launch stage is not automatically part of the 27-achievement target.
Main-only completion still advances the plot. Optional cleanup supplies extra jokes, Juju, photos and stage rewards, but it is not required to reach the ending.

Where can I play Lost and Found Co.?
The Steam version released on 5 March 2026 for Windows 10 or later and macOS Big Sur or later. Steam lists English interface, full audio and subtitles; Simplified Chinese, Thai, Traditional Chinese and Japanese interface/subtitles; and Korean localization added in a later update. Windows minimum requirements are a 64-bit operating system, 8 GB RAM, a GPU with 1 GB VRAM and 2 GB storage. Recommended Windows hardware is 16 GB RAM, a GeForce GTX 750 Ti or Radeon R7 250, and 4 GB storage. macOS minimum is Big Sur, an Intel Core i5, 8 GB RAM and 2 GB storage; recommended is an Apple M1, 16 GB RAM and 4 GB storage.
A free Steam demo is available. The listed US price is $17.99; a 20% promotion reduces it to $14.39 through 9 November 2026. Treat that discount as time-limited and region-specific to the US listing. Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 versions are announced for early 2027, with local or online co-op for up to four players, Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, motion controls and touchscreen support. Nintendo has not published an exact release day.
How was this beginner advice selected?
The route prioritizes the systems that repeatedly block new players: no timer, layer-based scanning, Obscured containers, Quest chains, Juju conservation, Request-based progression and the documented reset and lobby recovery tools. Early item locations follow the Casual Game Guides and Into Indie Games walkthrough routes; hint and side-objective behavior follows Checkpoint Gaming and GosuGamers descriptions; progression, tone and decoration details reflect published reviews and official game information.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I miss an item permanently in Lost and Found Co.?
No. Objects are hand-placed rather than randomly generated, and a stage can be replayed with Reset Stage from its menu. Replaying is safer than clearing all data, which is a separate Lobby → Settings option.
Do Requests have to be completed to see the ending?
Requests are optional client jobs, but completing them raises the company’s standing and unlocks later Story Cases. Skipping every Request can therefore stop campaign progress even though an individual Request is not a mandatory objective.
Why are some items not covered by a hint?
Side missions and optional objectives can have no hints at all. Regular hints also describe targets broadly, while a Juju hint is more specific; use the latter only after checking every container and completing nearby Quest interactions.
What happens to my office after I finish a case?
Rewards and neighbour gifts arrive by mail, adding furniture and keepsakes to Ducky’s Room. The room editor lets you resize, rotate, layer, recolour and light those pieces, so visiting the hub is part of the game’s progression rather than a purely cosmetic detour.
