If lvanlys.dll is missing, was not found, or could not be loaded, repair the LabVIEW installation or the LabVIEW application that needs it instead of downloading a replacement DLL.
This file may be used by LabVIEW functions such as Mean.vi. It can also be included with engineering, measurement, testing, and instrumentation software built with LabVIEW.

Before fixing lvanlys.dll
Identify which type of installation is failing:
- A standalone application fails: The application probably needs the matching full LabVIEW Run-Time Engine, or its deployment folder is incomplete.
- The LabVIEW IDE fails: Repair or reinstall the matching LabVIEW version.
- Only one vendor application fails: Repair or reinstall that application from its original installer.
- The error mentions initialization or invalid memory access: Check the old-LabVIEW CPU issues described below.
Do not copy lvanlys.dll into C:WindowsSystem32, C:WindowsSysWOW64, or an unrelated application folder. NI installations commonly place the file below a LabVIEW installation’s resource directory or inside the data folder of a built application. The exact deployment layout varies.
Fix 1: Install the matching full LabVIEW Runtime
Time needed: 10 to 30 minutes, depending on the installer and download.
#1 Best Overall
For a deployed LabVIEW program, this is the safest first repair.
- Find out which LabVIEW version created the application. Check the vendor’s documentation, installer, application release notes, or ask the developer.
- Determine whether the program is 32-bit or 64-bit. The application’s bitness matters, not just whether Windows is 64-bit.
- Open NI’s official LabVIEW Runtime download page in your browser.
- Select Windows.
- Select the LabVIEW version used to build the application.
- Select the application’s bitness.
- Choose the full LabVIEW Run-Time Engine.
- Do not choose the Web Browser Plug-in or Minimum Runtime as a substitute.
- Run the installer as an administrator.
- Restart Windows after installation.
- Launch the affected program again.
A successful repair normally allows the application to start without the resource or missing-DLL message. If the same error remains, confirm that the version and bitness were identified correctly before installing another runtime.
Older LabVIEW releases may require an NI account, subscription, or service agreement. Do not substitute a runtime from a random download site.

Different LabVIEW runtime versions can coexist under NI’s compatibility rules. However, an SP1 runtime can replace the corresponding non-SP1 runtime, so note the exact release installed. Older executables, including many built with older LabVIEW versions, may require their original major runtime version rather than a newer one.
Fix 2: Restore the complete application folder
Time needed: 5 to 20 minutes.
A LabVIEW executable is often distributed as a folder rather than as a single self-contained file. Copying only the .exe can leave behind lvanlys.dll, support files, or the required data directory.
- Close the affected application.
- Locate the original installer, deployment archive, network share, or computer where the program was built.
- Copy the entire application folder to the destination computer.
- Confirm that the application’s
datafolder is present beside the executable where the original build placed it. - Do not copy only
lvanlys.dllfrom another computer. - If an installer is available, run it again rather than manually assembling files.
- Start the application from its restored folder.
If the program now opens, the original deployment was incomplete. If you build the application yourself, open the LabVIEW project and review the build specification and installer settings. In the installer’s Additional Installer section, select the required LabVIEW Run-Time Engine, then rebuild and redistribute the complete output.
If the application folder came from a vendor, use that vendor’s repair or reinstall option. A vendor application may package LabVIEW support files differently from a normal LabVIEW project.
Fix 3: Repair the LabVIEW IDE or runtime
Time needed: 15 to 45 minutes.
Use this when LabVIEW itself reports errors such as:
LabVIEW: Resource not found. lvanlys.dllA dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failedError loading "...lvanlys.dll" Invalid access to memory locationMissing external function lvanlys.dll
Repair through NI Package Manager
- Close LabVIEW and other NI applications.
- Open the Start menu.
- Type NI Package Manager.
- Right-click it and select Run as administrator.
- Open the installed products list.
- Locate the affected LabVIEW version or LabVIEW Run-Time Engine.
- Select the product’s available Repair action.
- Allow the repair to complete.
- Restart Windows.
- Test LabVIEW or the affected application.
If Repair is unavailable or fails, uninstall only the affected NI product after confirming that other NI applications do not depend on it. Then reinstall the matching LabVIEW version or full runtime from NI’s official installer.
Check antivirus quarantine before reinstalling. If security software removed a file from an NI installation, restore it only after confirming that the file belongs to the verified NI package and expected installation path.
Fix 4: Check the LabVIEW version and architecture
Time needed: 10 to 20 minutes.
A runtime mismatch can look like a missing file even when a copy of lvanlys.dll exists on the computer.
Recommended Free Tools
Check these three details:
- Build version: Which LabVIEW version created the executable?
- Application architecture: Is the executable 32-bit or 64-bit?
- Operating system: Is Windows 10 or Windows 11 32-bit or 64-bit?
A 64-bit version of Windows does not automatically require a 64-bit LabVIEW runtime. A 32-bit LabVIEW application needs the matching 32-bit runtime. Installing the wrong architecture will not make the application compatible.
Do not use the path alone to decide. A path under Program Files (x86) can suggest a 32-bit installation, but the developer’s build information is more reliable.
If the application was built with an older LabVIEW release, install that original major version where required. A newer runtime is not a universal replacement for every older executable.
Fix 5: Apply the old LabVIEW CPU workaround
Time needed: 5 to 15 minutes, plus a restart.
This applies to specific older configurations, not every lvanlys.dll error.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
NI documents an Intel Math Kernel Library initialization problem affecting LabVIEW 2019 SP1 and older on some AMD Ryzen systems. It can produce initialization or resource errors.
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
sysdm.cpl. - Press Enter.
- Open the Advanced tab.
- Select Environment Variables.
- Under User variables, select New.
- Enter this variable name:
MKL_DEBUG_CPU_TYPE
- Enter this value:
4
9. Select OK.
10. Under System variables, select New.
11. Create the same variable with the same value.
12. Select OK on each open dialog.
13. Restart Windows.
14. Test the LabVIEW program.
This setting affects other applications that use MKL, so treat it as a compatibility workaround. Upgrading LabVIEW is preferable when an updated version is available.
Rank #4
Very old LabVIEW versions released before 2012 can also have problems on systems reporting 32 or more logical processors. In that situation, upgrade LabVIEW, use the 32-bit LabVIEW version where appropriate, reduce available CPU cores, disable Hyper-Threading where supported, or run the application in a virtual machine with fewer virtual processors.

Time needed: 15 to 30 minutes.
A driver reinstall is not a general fix for lvanlys.dll. Use this step only when the failing program is an NI hardware application and its installer or error message identifies a hardware or device-driver dependency.
- Right-click the Start button.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand the category related to the affected hardware.
- Right-click the device.
- Select Properties and review the General and Driver tabs.
- If the device has an error icon, record the error code.
- Obtain the driver from the hardware manufacturer or the application’s official installer.
- If removing the driver is necessary, select Uninstall device and choose the option to remove driver software only when the manufacturer’s instructions require it.
- Restart Windows.
- Install the correct driver package.
- Restart again and test the application.
Manually hunting through Device Manager and matching drivers to older NI hardware can be slow, especially when several devices are listed. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for outdated drivers; its free scan identifies findings, while driver installation is handled by the full version. Reinstalling the LabVIEW application remains the definitive fix when the application package itself is incomplete.
Fix 7: Repair Windows components when other Windows files also fail
Time needed: 15 to 40 minutes.
DISM and SFC repair Windows components and protected Windows files. They do not recreate a missing NI LabVIEW DLL that was never installed.
Use these commands only if Windows has broader symptoms, such as failed updates, several unrelated system errors, or damaged built-in applications.
- Open the Start menu.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for DISM to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until verification reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows.
- Test the LabVIEW application again.
If SFC reports that it repaired files, restart and retest. If both commands complete without resolving the LabVIEW error, return to the LabVIEW version, runtime, and deployment checks.
Repeatedly running SFC and DISM without knowing what changed rarely helps with a third-party LabVIEW dependency. Outbyte PC Repair can show a scan of broader Windows issues, while repairs are performed by the full version. It is optional, and reinstalling the specific LabVIEW application remains the definitive fix for a missing application component.

regsvr32 is not the normal repair for this file. Microsoft’s registration utility is intended for DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer; registering a LabVIEW support DLL does not install the required runtime or rebuild a missing deployment.

Avoid these actions:
- Downloading
lvanlys.dllfrom a DLL archive - Copying it into System32 or SysWOW64
- Replacing it with a file from another LabVIEW version
- Registering it repeatedly with
regsvr32 - Installing Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET without an error identifying that dependency
Random DLL downloads can contain malware, use the wrong architecture, or conceal the real problem: an absent runtime, incomplete data folder, or incompatible LabVIEW build.

FAQ
Is lvanlys.dll part of Windows?
No. It is associated with National Instruments LabVIEW mathematics and analysis functionality. It should normally be restored through LabVIEW or the application that installed it.
Does Microsoft Visual C++ fix it?
Not usually. lvanlys.dll is primarily a LabVIEW dependency. Install another runtime only if the complete error specifically identifies that runtime as missing.
Why does the error appear in a non-LabVIEW program?
Engineering, testing, measurement, and instrumentation programs can be built with LabVIEW. The program may hide LabVIEW from its normal interface while still requiring the LabVIEW runtime.
Does Windows 11 require the 64-bit runtime?
No. Match the runtime to the application’s architecture. A 32-bit LabVIEW application needs the 32-bit runtime even on 64-bit Windows.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Can multiple LabVIEW runtimes be installed?
Yes, subject to NI’s compatibility rules. Different major versions or bitnesses can coexist, but service-pack behavior can replace a corresponding non-service-pack runtime.
What information should I collect if nothing works?
Record the complete error text, application name, full path shown in the error, LabVIEW build version, application bitness, CPU model, and whether lvanlys.dll exists in the application’s data folder or LabVIEW’s resource directory. That information usually distinguishes a deployment failure from an IDE installation problem.
