The four Magic: The Gathering—FINAL FANTASY Commander decks launched on June 13, 2025, so their preorder window has passed. Wizards of the Coast’s official pages confirm the products and historical preorder channels, but do not verify that the decks were “selling fast” or establish current stock or prices. If you’re considering one now, compare the decklists and check a current retailer listing rather than relying on launch-era claims.
Which FINAL FANTASY Commander decks were released?
The original release had four ready-to-play decks, each tied to a different character and game. Wizards of the Coast published the decklists and stated that every deck contains 25 cards new to Magic.
| Deck | Featured character | What to compare |
|---|---|---|
| Limit Break | Cloud | Review the official decklist to see whether its card choices suit your preferred way to play. |
| Counter Blitz | Tifa | Compare its published card list with the other decks before choosing by theme alone. |
| Revival Trance | Yuna | Use the official list to assess its cards and play pattern; the name alone does not establish performance. |
| Scions & Spellcraft | Y’shtola | Check the list against your interests and the other available decks. |
Wizards’ Commander deck announcement and decklists and collecting guide are the primary references for the lineup and card contents.
Are the decks still in preorder?
No. Wizards set the global tabletop release for June 13, 2025, with WPN prerelease events running June 6–12, 2025. Its launch announcement named local game stores, Amazon, and other retailers as preorder channels at that time. Those dates and channels describe the 2025 launch, not an open preorder today.

What is the FINAL FANTASY VII Commander Deck – Game Edition?
Wizards later announced a separate Game Edition built around the Limit Break deck. It includes that deck, a traditional-foil Cloud, Midgar Mercenary promo, and a code for the original FINAL FANTASY VII game. Wizards says the included Limit Break deck is mechanically identical to its original release. The product’s $99.99 figure is its 2025 MSRP, not a current asking price.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Are the Commander cards legal in Standard?
Not by virtue of appearing in the Commander decks. Wizards identifies these cards as belonging to the FIC Commander set, whose cards are legal in Commander, Legacy, and Vintage. Reprints keep any other format legality they already had. The main FINAL FANTASY set, identified as FIN, is Standard-legal; that does not make every card in the franchise-branded Commander products Standard-legal. See Wizards’ format and release information for the distinction.

How should you choose a deck now?
- Start with the published lists. Use the official decklists to compare the actual cards rather than inferring strategy or strength from a deck name or character.
- Choose the edition. Decide whether you want an original deck, a Collector’s Edition foil product, or—if you want Limit Break—the later Game Edition bundle.
- Check current terms. Compare the live price, seller, and availability for the exact edition you want. The official MSRP figures above are historical and do not show current stock or market value.
