The SpongeBob Magic cards built around internet culture are in the Secret Lair x SpongeBob SquarePants: Internet Sensation drop. Its meme-ready theme is clear, but “the perfect meme” is an editorial description—not a card name or an official Wizards of the Coast rating. The 2025 release had three separate SpongeBob drops, each with a different focus.
Which SpongeBob Magic cards are the meme ones?
Internet Sensation is the meme-themed drop. Wizards of the Coast billed it as “Lord of Memes” and described SpongeBob’s online legacy in terms of reaction GIFs, image macros, and viral posts. The drop contains five Magic cards and a Food Token:
- Counterspell
- Daze
- Inevitable Betrayal
- Force of Despair
- Night’s Whisper
- Food Token
Wizards’ announcement calls SpongeBob’s impact on digital culture “indelible—perhaps more so than any other cartoon sponge in recent history.” That is promotional language, not a measured ranking. The announcement does not establish that each card depicts a particular meme, so the strongest supported claim is that this is the meme-themed SpongeBob drop.
What are the three SpongeBob Secret Lair drops?
The SpongeBob cards were released as three themed Secret Lair drops within the Our Boss Is on Vacation Superdrop, rather than as one conventional Magic expansion. Their contents and artists differ:

- Grazilaxx, Illithid Scholar as “Squidward, Sarcastic Snob”

When did the SpongeBob cards go on sale, and what did they cost?
Wizards announced the Our Boss Is on Vacation Superdrop on March 24, 2025, with a stated storefront release time of 9 a.m. PST. The announcement listed each drop at $29.99 USD in non-foil or $39.99 USD in rainbow foil. Those are original US launch prices from 2025, not current resale prices.
Rank #2
- After appearing in over 300 episodes across 15 seasons (and on countless birthday cakes), SpongeBob has finally surfaced from Bikini Bottom and entered Secret Lair.
Wizards described the superdrop as limited quantity and said products could later be removed from the Secret Lair storefront. Its Secret Lair Production and Shipping Status page records the SpongeBob bundle, foil and non-foil versions, and historical US and EU/UK sale and fulfillment windows. That record does not establish present-day stock or aftermarket pricing.

- Choose Legends of Bikini Bottom for character reinterpretations of existing Magic cards.
- Choose Internet Sensation for the drop explicitly themed around SpongeBob’s internet-meme legacy.
- Choose Lands Under the Sea for a set of ten SpongeBob-themed basic lands.
All three had the same announced US launch prices, with non-foil and rainbow foil finishes. The official sources do not establish current resale availability, prices, or the specific visual meme references on individual cards. Wizards also described the series as drawing on a show with “over 300 episodes across 15 seasons”; that is the 2025 announcement’s characterization of the show’s history, not an independently verified current episode count.
