Magick Archer is an advanced vocation for the Arisen that specializes in Magickal Bows. To unlock it, travel to Agamen Volcanic Island, help Gautstafr, and escort him to the hot springs; Clíodhna then teaches the vocation. The same quest account says she also grants Martyr’s Bolt, its Maister skill.
What does the Magick Archer do?
Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma 2 manual describes vocations as having distinct play styles and strengths, with combat that rewards exploiting elemental weaknesses and supporting allies. Magick Archer applies that broad approach at range: its Magickal Bow skills cover elemental damage and status effects, while other skills heal, revive, or protect pawns.

How to unlock Magick Archer
The vocation is unlocked in the Agamen Volcanic Island region, rather than through an early vocation-guild purchase. Gamer Guides’ vocation database identifies the island as the unlock location and Drabnir’s Grotto, in southeast Battahl, as the route toward it.
- Travel through Drabnir’s Grotto toward Agamen Volcanic Island.
- Find Gautstafr near the cave entrance and help him with his back pain.
- Meet him at his home and escort him to the hot springs.
- Speak with Clíodhna. In RPG Site’s walkthrough, published March 26, 2024, she teaches Magick Archer and grants Martyr’s Bolt.
RPG Site reports that Grandpetal, Goldthistle, and Pitywort worked as herbs for Gautstafr, but its guide does not establish that those are the only valid items. Its account also requires no separate Maister quest for Martyr’s Bolt.

Magick Archer skills and what they do
The vocation’s weapon skills let you choose between elemental attacks, control, and broader coverage. RPG Site’s March 2024 guide lists the following skills; most have an upgraded form.

- Bartizan: Raise a protective barrier around an ally.
Core skills and timing
- Climatic Arrow improves Pinpoint Volley and Rivet Shot harm when timed to the bow’s fully drawn state.
- Scopic Sight extends lock-on range, while Tracker’s Sight raises the maximum number of lock-on targets.
- Protracting Arrow briefly applies the element of a recent fire, ice, or lightning weapon skill to certain basic arrows.
Martyr’s Bolt has a significant cost
Martyr’s Bolt is a powerful magick bolt, but charging it temporarily reduces the user’s maximum Health. The amount of Health lost determines the bolt’s potency, so the stronger shot comes at a real survival cost; it is not simply a free damage upgrade.

Choosing skills and augments for your party
There is no single best setup established by the available skill guide. Choose around the fight and your party’s needs rather than treating one loadout as universally optimal.
- For elemental coverage: Carry attacks that let you respond to the elemental weaknesses you encounter.
- For groups or individual targets: Weigh multi-target or ricocheting options against focused attacks.
- For control: Sedative Bolt adds a sleep effect to the ranged toolkit.
- For pawn support: Remedy Arrow, Vimtaking Arrow, and Bartizan provide healing, revival, or protection.
- For high-risk damage: Consider Martyr’s Bolt’s temporary maximum-Health loss before committing to a long charge.
