Start by identifying when the crash happens
Record the exact point of failure: launching the game, reaching the menu, loading a match, or during play. Note whether it happens every time, only in one mode, or only when playing online, and save any error text. A game closing to desktop is different from a connection problem; describing the symptom precisely helps support investigate it.
Players have reported crashes when starting a match or loading into a single match, but those forum posts are individual reports, not evidence of how common the problem is or what causes it. In one match-start report, the player had already tried updating drivers and verifying files. The discussion shows why those checks should not be treated as guaranteed solutions.
Check whether your PC meets Make Way’s listed requirements
Steam lists these specifications for the PC version. Meeting the minimum is a compatibility reference, not proof that a particular crash has been diagnosed.

These are the requirements on Make Way’s Steam listing. Check your Windows edition, processor, RAM, graphics hardware, DirectX support, and free storage against them. The listing’s Windows 7 minimum should not be read as a promise that the current Steam client supports Windows 7: Steam says its client supports Windows 10 and later starting January 1, 2024.
Try these eight troubleshooting steps
Work through these checks in order, changing one thing at a time. Steam’s general launch advice supports checking requirements and Windows updates; the other checks are conventional troubleshooting suggestions, not Make Way-specific remedies verified by the cited sources.

- Write down the crash conditions. Note the stage, frequency, game mode, online or offline context, and any error message. Keep the details for a support report.
- Compare your PC with the published requirements. Use the table above to check your operating system, CPU, memory, GPU, DirectX support, and available storage.
- Install pending Windows updates and restart. Steam recommends checking for Windows updates when a game does not launch. This general advice does not guarantee a fix for a Make Way-specific crash. Steam’s launch troubleshooting guide has broader steps.
- Check your graphics driver. If it is outdated, update it through your GPU manufacturer’s official channel. A player in a reported match-start crash had already updated drivers without resolving the issue, so this check may not be sufficient.
- Verify the installed game files in Steam. In your Steam Library, right-click Make Way, open Properties, select Installed Files, then choose Verify integrity of game files. If the labels differ in your Steam client, look for the installed-file verification option. A player in the cited discussion said verification did not solve their crash.
- Restart Steam and your PC, then retry the same scenario. Repeating one simple, documented sequence makes it easier to tell whether anything changed. This is a low-risk diagnostic suggestion, not an official Make Way remedy.
- Test without overlays or background utilities. Temporarily close them, test the same scenario, and restore their settings if nothing changes. The reviewed official sources do not identify overlays as a cause of Make Way crashes.
- If it still crashes, collect details and contact support. Include your PC specifications, OS, region, exact steps to reproduce the issue, expected and actual behavior, error text, and any crash or error log you can find.
Send Secret Mode a report it can investigate
Secret Mode’s pinned Make Way bug-report thread asks players to provide a description, reproduction steps, expected and actual results, platform, operating system, and region. Add your PC specifications and the latest crash or error log when available. A Secret Mode representative responding to a crash report specifically asked for PC specs and the latest crash/error log.
Steam lists [email protected] as the official support contact for Make Way. A developer response has also directed players to the game’s Discord bug-report section; confirm the current Discord link from the Steam store page before using it.

One developer response gave C:Program Files (x86)Steamdumps as a location for Steam crash dumps when Steam is installed on the C: drive. Your Steam installation may use a different location, so that path is not universal. If you cannot find the relevant log, say so in your report rather than guessing.
