Marathon launched worldwide on March 5, 2026, for Steam on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Bungie says it supports cross-play and cross-save, so players can team up across platforms and carry progression between linked platform accounts, provided they meet the cross-save requirements.
Is Marathon out yet?
Yes. Bungie announced a March 5, 2026 release and said the game went live worldwide that day. Its launch announcement lists Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Bungie’s release announcement and launch-day post provide those dates and platforms.

Some regional and storefront displays show March 6 instead. For example, the PlayStation Blog article is specifically for Southeast Asia and gives March 6, while Xbox Cloud Gaming’s listing also displays March 6; a separate Xbox store listing displayed March 5. These date displays do not change Bungie’s stated worldwide launch date. PlayStation’s Southeast Asia announcement notes that dates can vary by country or region.
What platforms is Marathon on?

Bungie announced Standard and Deluxe digital editions for these platforms. At announcement, Standard included access to gameplay updates such as maps, Runner shells, and events. Deluxe added a premium rewards pass voucher, SILK rewards pass tokens, weapon cosmetics, and Runner shell cosmetics. Those launch-announcement details may not describe every later storefront bundle or current offer.

Does Marathon have cross-play and cross-save?
Yes. Bungie says Marathon supports both. Cross-play lets players on different supported platforms play together. Cross-save carries progression between platform copies, but it does not provide a free copy for another system.
Cross-save requirements
Bungie says cross-save requires an internet connection, a compatible copy of Marathon for each system you use, and each system network account linked to your Bungie.net account. Other platform copies are sold separately. Check the current platform’s online-play terms as well: Xbox lists broadband internet and Game Pass for cloud access, and a qualifying subscription for console online multiplayer; PlayStation’s regional announcement says PS5 online multiplayer requires paid PlayStation Plus membership. Requirements can vary by service and may change.

What kind of game is Marathon?
Xbox describes Marathon as an online PvPvE extraction game. Players scavenge solo or with a crew, face rival players and enemy forces, and try to extract with loot. Xbox’s listing also describes Runner shells with distinct abilities, moddable weapons, solo or two- and three-player groups, Ranked mode, and Cryo Archive challenges. This is the platform’s store description, not an independent assessment of the game.
Are there physical Marathon editions or accessories?
Bungie’s launch announcement described a Collector’s Edition with a 1/6-scale Thief Runner Shell statue, a miniature WEAVEworm, an embroidered patch, postcards, digital rewards, and other items. The announcement does not establish whether it is currently in stock.
