The Mario Kart World Open runs from 2:00 p.m. Pacific Time on October 17, 2026 to 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time on October 18, 2026. You find it inside Mario Kart World by searching for Event ID 4450 under Online Play. Nintendo announced the event on October 8, 2026, in its official event notice from Nintendo of Canada, and the notice is the source for every detail below.
How to enter the Open
Entry is a matter of finding the event in the game and playing it during its stated window. Follow these steps on a Nintendo Switch 2 that meets the requirements listed further down.
- Launch Mario Kart World and select Online Play from the main menu.
- Press the minus button to open the event search.
- Enter the four-digit event ID 4450 and confirm the search.
- Join and play the event before it closes. Entry requires participating during the event period, so a search that succeeds after October 18, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. PT will not give you a place in the Open.
If the search does not return the event, check that you typed 4450 exactly and that the current date and time fall inside the October 17–18 window in Pacific Time. Nintendo’s notice does not describe any other fix, so do not rely on a workaround that the announcement does not mention.

Nintendo Switch Online trial terms
The announcement mentions a free 7-day trial of Nintendo Switch Online. The trial is not open-ended. Nintendo states that it converts to a one-month membership that renews automatically at the price in effect at that time unless you cancel. The trial also carries restrictions and country limits, which the notice describes but this article does not reproduce. If you do not already hold a membership, read the trial conditions in the Nintendo Switch Online section of the notice before you start it.

The 50-point participation reward
Nintendo offers 50 My Nintendo Platinum Points to eligible participants in the North and South American regions. Nintendo says the points will be ready to claim on the Missions page on or about October 27, 2026 (PT). The phrase “on or about” is Nintendo’s own, so treat October 27 as the expected date rather than a guaranteed one.

How the Open relates to the Fall Cup 2026
The October Open is a qualifier. Nintendo describes it as a qualifier for the Mario Kart World Fall Cup 2026, which takes place in December. The announcement’s exact wording is: “This event is a qualifier for the Mario Kart World Fall Cup 2026 that will take place exclusively for North American players in December.” Nintendo does not name an individual spokesperson for the statement.

- Ferocious Competition - At the heart of Puyo Puyo Tetris is the fighting spirit of players competing against each other to be most clever, cunning, and quick-witted one to set up devastating attacks on opponents. It's the classic easy-to-learn puzzles mashed up into a multiplayer battle like no other!
- Adventure Mode - The game also has a single player mode with ten unique acts, eatch with ten stages. They feature different characters from the Puyo Puyo or Tetris universes and have unique challenges to learn and master game mechanics that players must overcome!
- Arcade Modes - Online play has Puzzle League, which tracks players' ratings, players can save replays to upload and share, and more.
- There's also an in-game shop players can use their points to unlock different Puyo and Tetrimino skins, background music, stages, and more.
Two regional descriptions, two different rules
The Open and the Fall Cup use different regional language, and the two should not be merged:
- The Open reward is described for eligible participants in the North and South American regions.
- The Fall Cup is described as taking place exclusively for North American players.
A player in South America may therefore qualify for the 50-point reward while not being eligible for the December Fall Cup. Confirm the Fall Cup rules before you plan around it.
