Emma Frost became playable in Marvel Rivals on April 11, 2025 UTC, with the launch of Season 2: Hellfire Gala. She is a Vanguard whose kit shifts between ranged telepathic attacks and close-range Diamond Form. Her ultimate, Psionic Seduction, stuns enemies in a cone, prevents them from using their Ultimates, and can draw exposed foes toward her.
When did Emma Frost come out in Marvel Rivals?
Emma Frost’s playable debut was April 11, 2025 UTC, when Season 2: Hellfire Gala began. NetEase and Marvel Games announced the season on April 3, but that was the announcement date—not Emma’s release date. The April 11 patch notes confirmed her debut in that update. NetEase’s Season 2 announcement and the April 11 patch notes give the dates and context.
The season centered on Krakoa and the Hellfire Gala. In its 2025 announcement, NetEase and Marvel Games reported more than 40 million players; that is a historical publisher-reported figure, not a current active-player count.
What role does Emma Frost have?
Emma is a Vanguard, a frontline role. Her kit combines a ranged psionic beam, a deployable barrier and pressure on an enemy’s sentience with a transformation that changes her attacks for close combat. NetEase described her as using telepathic and diamond abilities to shield allies and attack opponents in its Season 2 announcement.

Emma Frost’s abilities
The official Emma Frost hero profile describes the abilities below. Ability values can change with updates, so treat profile numbers as a dated reference rather than a guarantee of current live tuning.
Telepathic and ranged abilities
- Telepathic Pulse: Channels a psionic beam whose damage increases with energy. The hero profile lists a 20-meter range.
- Mind’s Aegis: Deploys a levitating barrier. The profile lists up to 400 shield value and a two-second delayed recovery after release.
- Psychic Spear: Targets an enemy’s sentience. Damage to the sentience also affects the target; shattering it deals additional damage.
Diamond Form and close-range attacks
Diamond Form transforms Emma for eight seconds, changes her attack style and grants Unstoppable status and Damage Reduction. It shifts her from ranged pressure toward close-range attacks, so using it means committing to a different range and combat style.

- Faceted Fury: A close-range diamond attack.
- Crystal Kick: A kick that knocks enemies back; the profile says it deals extra damage if the target hits a wall.
- Carbon Crush: A forward lunge that grabs and slams an opponent.
Psionic Seduction (Ultimate)
Psionic Seduction sends a psychic assault through a forward cone. Enemies caught by it are stunned and cannot use their Ultimate Abilities; sustained exposure can compel them to move toward Emma. The official profile lists a six-second duration, a 30-meter length and an 80-degree cone. Its crowd control can interrupt an enemy’s plans and create an opening for allies, but the effect depends on enemies being within the cone and exposed to the attack. See the official hero profile for its listed parameters.
What changed in Emma Frost’s May 2026 balance update?
NetEase’s May 12, 2026 balance post for version 20260515 documented three changes: Telepathic Pulse’s falloff begins after four seconds without hitting an enemy instead of three; Mind’s Aegis reposition cooldown was reduced from three seconds to one; and Damage Reduction during Diamond Form and Psionic Seduction increased from 20% to 25%. NetEase said the changes were intended to improve her survivability and frontline presence. These are values for that dated update, not confirmation of the live numbers on October 8, 2026 or after; check the current game for later changes. Read the version 20260515 balance post.
