The timing was slightly later and more gradual than the CES 2025 headlines suggested: NVIDIA announced on January 9, 2025, that the game was coming after Season 1 launched; Marvel Rivals said support was live on January 10; and NVIDIA published a dedicated confirmation on January 16.
The game itself remains free-to-play, but streaming it through GeForce NOW requires access to a GeForce NOW membership. NVIDIA lists Free, Performance and Ultimate as supported membership types, although free users may have to wait in a queue.

The CES 2025 release timeline
The most accurate way to describe the launch is that Marvel Rivals arrived on GeForce NOW around the launch of Season 1, immediately after NVIDIA’s CES announcement—not necessarily that it launched during the CES presentation itself.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches- January 9, 2025: NVIDIA’s CES 2025 GeForce NOW recap listed Marvel Rivals as coming to the cloud after Season 1 launched.
- January 10, 2025: Season 1: Eternal Night Falls began at 07:00 UTC, and the official Marvel Rivals announcement said GeForce NOW support was live.
- January 16, 2025: NVIDIA published its dedicated announcement confirming that Season One had joined GeForce NOW that week.
These dates describe a staged announcement and rollout rather than three separate releases. January 9 was the CES-related announcement, January 10 was the game’s own availability notice, and January 16 was NVIDIA’s fuller confirmation.

Is Marvel Rivals free on GeForce NOW?
Marvel Rivals is free-to-play, but GeForce NOW access is a separate service. The official Marvel Rivals instructions tell players to create or use a GeForce NOW account and select a membership to stream the game.
That membership does not mean you are buying Marvel Rivals from NVIDIA. GeForce NOW streams supported games from connected PC storefronts and services, including Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, PC Game Pass and Ubisoft Connect, as explained on NVIDIA’s service page. You may therefore need to authenticate the relevant store account when launching the game.
Which GeForce NOW plan supports Marvel Rivals?
NVIDIA’s support listing says Marvel Rivals is available on all three NVIDIA membership types:
| Membership | Who it suits | Main caveat |
|---|---|---|
| Free | Players testing cloud gaming or playing occasionally | Queues may delay access, especially during busy periods |
| Performance | Regular players who want more predictable access and better quality | Still depends on your connection and local network |
| Ultimate | Players with high-refresh displays who want NVIDIA’s highest-end cloud options | Higher cost does not remove internet-related latency |
See NVIDIA’s membership support entry for the eligibility listing. Plan names, prices, capacity and availability can differ outside NVIDIA-operated markets, particularly where GeForce NOW is provided by an Alliance partner.

Which tier should you choose?
Try Free first if you only want to determine whether your device, connection and location work well. It is less suitable for scheduled or ranked sessions because a queue can prevent immediate access.
Performance is the sensible middle option for regular casual play. It can provide a more dependable experience without paying for every premium feature.
Ultimate makes the most sense if you specifically want higher-end cloud hardware, high refresh rates or advanced resolution options and do not already own a capable gaming PC. NVIDIA currently markets Ultimate around RTX 5080-class cloud performance, but no membership can compensate for a poor route to the data center or unstable Wi-Fi.

Supported devices
NVIDIA’s current system-requirements page lists GeForce NOW support across a wide range of categories:
- Windows PCs, Macs, Linux systems and ChromeOS devices
- Supported web browsers
- Android phones and tablets
- iPhone and iPad through supported browser access
- Steam Deck and other compatible gaming handhelds
- NVIDIA SHIELD TV and select smart TVs
- Apple Vision Pro, Meta Quest and Pico immersive-display devices
Compatibility is not identical across every device. Phones and tablets are generally better with a controller. NVIDIA says a gamepad is required for gameplay in iPhone and iPad browser use, while smart TVs require a supported gamepad for gameplay; keyboard and mouse are primarily intended for navigation in those TV environments.
On a Windows or Mac computer, keyboard and mouse are the natural choice for Marvel Rivals. On a phone, TV or handheld, check the specific device’s input requirements before subscribing.

Internet requirements for Marvel Rivals on GeForce NOW
NVIDIA’s published bandwidth guidance includes these approximate targets:
| Streaming target | Published bandwidth guidance |
|---|---|
| HD up to 60 fps | 15 Mbps |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 25 Mbps |
| QHD or ultrawide QHD at high frame rates | 35 Mbps |
| 4K at 120 fps | 45 Mbps |
NVIDIA recommends Ethernet or 5 GHz Wi-Fi and latency below 80 ms to a GeForce NOW data center. Higher resolution and frame-rate modes can require more bandwidth; NVIDIA’s requirements page lists additional targets for very high refresh rates and 5K streaming.
For a competitive hero shooter, download speed is only part of the test. A fast but unstable connection can feel worse than a slower, consistent one. Packet loss, jitter, Wi-Fi congestion, local downloads, ISP routing and distance from the nearest data center can all affect responsiveness.

Is GeForce NOW good for competitive Marvel Rivals?
GeForce NOW can be a useful way to play Marvel Rivals on hardware that cannot run it locally, but it is not automatically equivalent to local PC or console play.

Advantages
- No full local download or installation is required.
- You can play on weaker PCs, Macs, compatible handhelds, phones and TVs.
- NVIDIA provides the remote gaming hardware.
- Premium memberships offer higher resolution and frame-rate options.
Trade-offs
- Cloud streaming adds network latency compared with local rendering.
- Free users may wait in a queue.
- Compression can produce softer images, visible artifacts or bitrate changes.
- Your experience depends on your ISP, home network and the selected data center.
- Peak demand can affect the ability to start or maintain a session.
NVIDIA’s terms of use warn that location, bandwidth, public-internet conditions, unexpected demand and technical constraints can affect resolution, bitrate and session availability.
For casual matches or players without a suitable gaming computer, that trade-off may be worthwhile. For the most predictable competitive experience, local PC or console play remains preferable where capable hardware is already available.
What to do if Marvel Rivals does not appear
- Confirm that you are using the correct regional GeForce NOW service.
- Search for the correct Marvel Rivals listing and store edition.
- Update or restart the GeForce NOW app.
- Sign out of and back into the connected PC storefront account.
- Check whether the game is available in your country or through your Alliance provider.
- Review NVIDIA’s current game-support information and service status.
- Try the supported browser version if the native app is misbehaving.
- Check that you are not confusing ownership of a local PC or console version with cloud-service access.
If the game launches but feels sluggish, test latency, jitter and packet loss rather than looking only at download speed. If the service is unavailable in your region, changing tiers may not solve the problem because regional operators can impose different availability and service conditions.

Bottom line on Marvel Rivals and GeForce NOW
Marvel Rivals did come to GeForce NOW around CES 2025, but the precise timeline matters: NVIDIA announced it on January 9, the official game site reported support on January 10 alongside Season 1, and NVIDIA confirmed the addition in a January 16 article.
All three NVIDIA membership types support the game. Free is suitable for testing, Performance is the practical choice for regular players, and Ultimate is aimed at users who want premium streaming features. The game costs nothing to play, but GeForce NOW membership, a compatible store account, supported hardware and a stable low-latency connection are still required.
