First identify whether the problem is network lag or choppy frame delivery: delayed actions, rubber-banding and disconnects point toward a connection issue, while low or fluctuating FPS and uneven animation point toward local performance. The fixes differ. For PC stutter, check the game’s published requirements, then try a clean graphics-driver installation and Windows high-performance graphics mode. For network delay, use Marvel Rivals’ Network Delay Test and compare regions.
Start by identifying what is lagging
- Likely rendering stutter: the image is choppy, animation judders, or FPS drops while your actions otherwise register promptly.
- Likely network delay: actions register late, characters rubber-band, the latency indicator is high, or you disconnect.
These symptoms are clues, not a definitive diagnosis. If both occur, work through the relevant PC performance and network sections separately. Change one thing at a time and compare in similar gameplay conditions so you can tell whether it helped.

Fix frequent stuttering or slow performance on PC
1. Check the published PC requirements
Marvel Rivals’ Common Technical Issues FAQ, dated December 1, 2024, lists the following requirements. Meeting them does not guarantee a particular frame rate, and the dated list may not reflect later updates.

2. Reinstall the graphics driver cleanly
If your PC meets the listed requirements but frequently stutters, Marvel Rivals recommends reinstalling the latest graphics driver for your specific GPU and choosing the driver installer’s clean-installation option. The exact label and location vary by GPU manufacturer and driver package. This is a troubleshooting step, not a guaranteed cure.
3. Set the game to high performance in Windows
- Open Settings → System → Display → Graphics.
- Add or browse to the Marvel Rivals executable. The FAQ identifies it as Marvel.exe.
- Open the game’s graphics options, select High performance, and save the setting.
This tells Windows to prefer the high-performance graphics processor for the game where applicable; it cannot resolve every possible cause of stutter. The path and advice come from the official technical issues FAQ.

4. Lower graphics settings if performance is generally slow
For broadly slow PC performance, Marvel Rivals’ release FAQ suggests lowering in-game graphics settings, including texture quality. Try a modest change, then compare under similar conditions. If slowdowns persist, contact official support rather than assuming a particular setting is the cause. The FAQ does not specify a guaranteed setting combination or performance gain. Troubleshoot network lag and delayed actions
1. Run the Network Delay Test
Marvel Rivals’ Network Analysis Tool guide describes a Network Delay Test for investigating severe in-game latency. Select nodes you connect to frequently or regions closest to your location, start the test, and let it run long enough to collect useful results. You can stop it when appropriate. The results help diagnose the route; they do not prove that changing region will fix server-side or routing problems. Open the official guide index and Network Analysis Tool guide.

2. Compare the available regions
When matchmaking, choose the server with the lowest displayed latency among suitable regions, as advised in the December 2024 FAQ. Prefer a region that is geographically reasonable and that you actually use; a low test reading alone is not proof that every match will have a stable connection.
3. Test Ethernet if you currently use Wi-Fi
If Wi-Fi may be unstable, try a wired Ethernet connection and compare it with wireless under similar conditions. This is an optional test, not a requirement: a cable can help isolate local Wi-Fi trouble, but it cannot guarantee lower end-to-end latency or fix a server-side issue. Check that your device has a compatible Ethernet port or adapter and choose a cable long enough for your setup. Marvel Rivals Ignite’s 2026 tournament rules recommend a stable wired connection for online matches, but that is tournament guidance rather than a consumer performance guarantee. Those rules also warn that game boosters or software that changes network nodes can cause instability or disconnections, so they are not a standard fix to rely on. 4. Send the diagnostic results if latency continues
The Network Analysis Tool guide says to send the generated tr_results_...zip diagnostic file to support through Discord if the problem persists. Include the file rather than relying only on a description of the symptoms, so support can review the test results.

Marvel Rivals’ December 6, 2024 release FAQ says PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X support its 120 FPS High Frame Rate (HFR) mode. The FAQ specifies a compatible HDMI 2.1 display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. It does not establish this setup for every console model, and HFR affects frame-rate output—not network latency.

- Enable 120 Hz output in your console’s display or video settings, using a compatible display and HDMI connection.
- Restart Marvel Rivals.
- Open the game’s graphics settings and select HFR Mode.
Console menu labels can vary by system software and display setup. See the official release FAQ for Marvel Rivals’ stated compatibility and setup.
When the problem does not go away
If PC slowdowns continue after the recommended driver, Windows graphics, and in-game setting steps, contact Marvel Rivals support with your system details and a concise description of when the slowdown occurs. For persistent network delay, provide the generated Network Analysis Tool ZIP file through the support route described in the official guide. Avoid treating a particular ping, frame-rate target, or improvement as guaranteed: the official materials do not publish outcome figures for these troubleshooting steps.
