Second Dinner’s “welcome back” package was compensation for the January 2025 Marvel Snap outage, not a reward available to every returning player. Accounts had to be created before January 20, 2025, and the items varied by whether the account qualified as US-based and whether its Collection Level was above or below 500. Second Dinner said the package was delivered through players’ in-game inboxes.
Why did Marvel Snap give players a welcome-back package?
Second Dinner said the outage kept players from time-based content, rewards, and missions. Its January 21, 2025 overview framed the package as compensation for that lost access and a way to welcome players back. The developer described it as the “downtime ordeal” and thanked players for their patience and support.

Second Dinner also said at the time that it was working to bring more services in-house and partner with a new publisher. That statement described a plan; the overview does not establish that the transition was completed.

Who qualified for the outage compensation?
- Account date: The account had to be created before January 20, 2025.
- US-based status: Second Dinner counted an account as US-based if it was created in the United States or had any US activity during the 30 days before the outage. Other accounts were treated as non-US.
- VPN use: Using a VPN to appear to be in the United States did not change eligibility; Second Dinner specifically said an account outside the US that used a US VPN remained non-US.
- Collection Level: The published package had separate tiers for accounts “Over Collection Level 500” and “Under Collection Level 500.” The overview does not explain how an account at exactly level 500 was handled.

Is this the same as the Welcome Back Calendar?
No. The outage compensation was a specific package tied to the January 2025 disruption. In patch notes dated September 16, 2025, Second Dinner described a separate returning-player system for people coming back after time away.

That later system included a 28-day login calendar that remained available for 35 days after a returning player’s first session back. It offered random cards on days 1, 7, 14, 21, and 28. The patch notes also described a Bonus Challenge requiring 50 missions within 30 days, a 25% discount on one eligible Season Pass purchase (carried to the next season for players returning within 10 days of the current season’s end), and three exclusive shop bundles featuring Snap Packs. These features are distinct from the January outage package; see the September 16, 2025 patch notes for the announced details.
