That is a tracker’s historical concurrent-player figure, not a count of everyone who has played the game or a total across platforms. Was Marvel Rivals topping Steam’s charts?
That depends on which chart and which date. “Concurrent players” means users playing at the same time; a current-player table is a momentary count, while a daily peak records the busiest point in a day. Steam’s top-sellers chart ranks sales performance, not players online. These figures answer different questions and cannot be swapped.

The January coverage described a brief period when Marvel Rivals became Steam’s most popular game, and reported other time-specific placements: No. 3 on top sellers and No. 4 among most-played games at the time of that report.
