The official Marvel Rivals team confirmed that the game had surpassed 20 million players, but its announcement does not say when the count passed that mark. The often-repeated claim that it took 10 days is therefore not verified by the official milestone post.
What did the official announcement confirm?
In a post dated December 24, 2024, the Marvel Rivals team said the game had surpassed 20 million players. The post’s date is the date of the announcement, not a stated date for reaching the milestone. It offers no exact threshold date, so it cannot establish that the game reached 20 million players in 10 days.
The team introduced the post as a clarification about the game’s Battle Pass: “In celebration of our triumphant achievement of surpassing 20 million players, we wanted to clarify a few points for all of our who may have questions about our Battle Pass.” The statement is attributed to the official team, not to a named executive or developer.
Where does the 10-day claim stand?
The official milestone post confirms the 20-million figure but gives no elapsed-time figure or date when the threshold was reached. A social repost visible in search results suggests a December 17 announcement, but no official source reviewed ties that date to crossing the 20-million mark. That leaves the precise 10-day timing unconfirmed.

What other player-count figures has NetEase reported?
In its fiscal 2024 results announcement, NetEase, Inc. reported more than 10 million registered users within 72 hours of launch and more than 40 million players to date. These are company-reported figures, and they use different wording: “registered users” for the early figure and “players” for the later one. They should not be treated as necessarily identical measures.
The figures also do not define whether “players” means unique accounts, registrations, or active players. The 20-million and 40-million totals are not evidence of concurrent users or of how many people were actively playing at a particular time.

How was Marvel Rivals released?
Marvel Rivals was announced as a free-to-play, team-based PvP shooter. It launched on Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, the Epic Games Store, and the game’s official website. The release across PC and console storefronts provides context for the reach of the milestone, but does not clarify how the player total was counted.
