Second Dinner recommends experimenting with those card types. The event is announced, but its complete rules and ban list have not been published in the official material reviewed here, so no deck can yet be called a proven best pick for this run.
What makes a deck work in Sanctum Showdown?
Sanctum Showdown rewards players for controlling locations over successive turns, with the Sanctum carrying more scoring weight than the other locations in the prior-run rules. A deck needs more than one large endgame play: it should establish early presence, remain able to affect multiple locations, and adapt if the high-value location changes.

Second Dinner’s official mode overview specifically suggests testing lower-cost cards, cards that move, and cards that add power to multiple locations. Those are strategic starting points, not an official tier list or guarantee of success in October.
Deck styles to consider
| Deck style | Why it may fit | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Low-cost / Zoo | Can establish board presence early and spread power across locations. | Whether it can keep contesting the Sanctum as its value rises or its position changes. |
| Movement / Iron Move | Movement can help respond to which location becomes the Sanctum, aligning with Second Dinner’s explicit suggestion to try movement cards. | Whether the current list has enough reliable power and flexibility for the event’s final rules. |
| Sauron or Sauron-Zemo | Both appeared among recommendations for an earlier run. | Confirm the current card text, list construction, and October event legality before using either as a recommendation. |
| Darkhawk | A historical creator pick that may be worth testing if its current shell suits the scoring pattern. | Confirm the present-day list and whether its cards are allowed in the October run. |
| Dormammu or Toxic | Both were also historical creator picks. | Check the current list, card text, and event bans rather than assuming an older build remains viable. |
Alexander Coccia’s October 15, 2025 video description named Sauron, Sauron-Zemo, Zoo, Darkhawk, Iron Move, Dormammu, and Toxic as recommendations for a previous Sanctum Showdown. Those are useful archetypes to investigate, not current performance evidence: the description framed its picks as early recommendations, and it supplies no win-rate data or matchup study.

How the scoring rules affect deck choice
Second Dinner’s official mode overview for a prior iteration says the first player to reach 16 points wins. Players score by controlling locations at the end of each turn; the Sanctum is worth more than the other locations. In that overview, turns 1 and 2 use a randomly chosen Sanctum worth one point, while from turn 3 the Sanctum is worth four points and the other locations are worth one each. A snap from turn 3 adds one point to the Sanctum for that turn, and a player may snap each turn.
The February–March 2026 Help Center description also gives a 16-point finish and says the Sanctum moves to a different location each turn; it says snapping can raise the Sanctum’s value up to six points in that run. These descriptions reinforce the value of flexible, sustained location control, but they describe earlier versions and do not establish October 2026 rules.

What is confirmed for the October 2026 run?
Second Dinner announced Sanctum Showdown for October 15–22, 2026, with a new Skill card, The Hunger, and a Premium Event Pass. The announcement says a featured set will include some frequently played cards from the previous run and that those cards will not be on the new run’s banned list. It does not identify the complete featured set, provide the full ban list, or publish the complete rules in the material reviewed here.

Accordingly, treat every older deck suggestion as a candidate to test once the October rules and card legality are clear. The most defensible initial approach is to favor low-cost plays and cards that can influence more than one location, then adjust for the actual Sanctum movement, scoring, and bans.
