Ibrahim Al-Nasser holds Guinness World Records’ title for the most gaming consoles connected to a single TV. Guinness currently lists 444 connected gaming systems, assembled in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on March 30, 2024. The achievement does not mean 444 HDMI cables run directly into one television—or that 444 games appear on screen at once. A network of switchers, adapters and carefully documented connections routes one selected system to the display at a time.
The record in one sentence
The official Guinness title is “most gaming consoles connected to a single TV.” The record holder is Ibrahim Al-Nasser, a video-game collector from Riyadh. Guinness records the total as 444 systems, achieved on March 30, 2024.

That wording matters. “Connected” describes the record’s infrastructure, not simultaneous play. A system can be wired into the switching setup while powered off; when Al-Nasser wants to use it, the relevant source is selected and routed to the television.

Who is Ibrahim Al-Nasser?
Al-Nasser is a collector focused on preserving and operating a remarkably broad range of gaming hardware. His setup spans several generations, from early systems to modern hardware. In coverage by Engadget, he identified the Sega Genesis as a personal favorite, including its Sega 32X and Sega CD expansions.
That preference reflects the collection’s unusual breadth. This is not simply a display of boxed consoles or a row of identical modern machines. It is an attempt to keep different systems accessible, each with its own cables, power requirements, video output and startup procedure.
What is included in the 444?
Guinness describes the collection broadly. It includes video-game consoles, computers, plug-and-play games, HDMI game sticks, Android gaming devices and other gaming hardware. The documented range extends from the Magnavox Odyssey to the PlayStation 5 Slim.
Reported examples include the original PlayStation, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, Genesis 32X, Sega CD and Hyperkin SuperBoy. The setup also includes plug-and-play arcade systems featuring games such as Ms. Pac-Man and Dig Dug.

Those examples are representative, not a complete inventory. Guinness does not publish a full itemized list of all 444 devices on its public record page. The phrase “444 consoles” is therefore the accepted shorthand for a count that includes several kinds of gaming systems—not only conventional cartridge-based home consoles.
How can 444 systems connect to one TV?
A television has a limited number of inputs, so the solution is a routing system. Engadget reports that Al-Nasser uses a series of video switchers and adapters. In general terms, the signal path looks like this:
Legacy consoles ──┐
Composite/component ──┼─> compatible switchers ──┐
HDMI consoles ────────┤ ├─> final TV input
Computers and sticks ─┘ converters/upscalers ──┘
- Each device is connected using hardware compatible with its output.
- Groups of systems are routed through switchers.
- Older analog signals may pass through converters or upscalers before reaching modern HDMI equipment.
- Additional switchers can consolidate those groups into a final output.
- The selected source is displayed on the single television.
This is a conceptual explanation, not a published wiring diagram for Al-Nasser’s installation. The available reporting confirms switchers and adapters, but not their exact brands, models, quantities or topology.
The technical challenge comes from the variety of video standards. Older systems may use RF, composite, component or proprietary connectors, while newer devices commonly use HDMI. A plug adapter may change the shape of a connector without converting the signal itself. Some legacy systems also produce resolutions or refresh rates that a modern television will not accept reliably without a suitable scaler.

The spreadsheet behind the spectacle
One of the most practical details in the story is Al-Nasser’s use of an Excel spreadsheet. According to Engadget, he records where each console is located, how to power it and the procedure needed to bring it online.
At this scale, documentation is part of the engineering. A useful inventory needs to connect several pieces of information:
- the device’s identity and physical location;
- its assigned switcher input;
- the correct power supply;
- the required video adapter or converter;
- the startup sequence; and
- any special controller or region requirements.
Hundreds of similar cables and power supplies can make a physical installation impossible to decipher by sight alone. Labels on both ends of each cable, matching spreadsheet IDs and dedicated storage for power supplies reduce the chance of disconnecting the wrong system or applying the wrong procedure.

Reportedly, Al-Nasser organized the systems so the cables were not visibly tangled. The exact design specifications are not public, but a setup of this size benefits from straightforward rules: group devices by connector type or generation, label every route, keep signal wiring separate from mains power where practical, and leave enough access to service individual machines.

Shelves or racks also need to provide ventilation. Consoles, converters, switchers and power supplies all generate heat, and tightly packed hardware is harder to inspect and troubleshoot. A neat appearance is useful, but serviceability matters more: every device should be removable without dismantling the entire system.

Mixed video standards
The collection’s age range means there is no single universal cable or switcher. Legacy analog signals may need conversion and scaling, while modern HDMI devices may introduce resolution, audio or copy-protection compatibility issues.
Cascaded switchers
Linking groups of switchers can create input confusion and signal problems. Potential risks include degradation, unsupported resolutions, HDMI handshake failures, added latency, remote-control conflicts and audio-routing complications. These are general risks of a large mixed-signal installation, not documented failures in Al-Nasser’s setup.

A collection containing hundreds of devices requires deliberate load planning. Nobody should attempt to plug hundreds of consoles into one consumer power strip or create chains of extension cords. A smaller installation should use properly rated, certified power equipment, avoid unsafe daisy-chaining and maintain ventilation. A permanent or unusually large installation warrants advice from a qualified electrician.

Display compatibility
A modern TV is convenient but may be less tolerant of unusual legacy signals. A quality retro-video scaler can improve compatibility, though it adds cost and another point of configuration. A CRT may provide an authentic display for some older consoles, but it does not meet the single-TV routing challenge by itself. Using multiple displays is easier technically, but it changes the defining constraint of this record.
Is this the world’s largest gaming collection?
No—not by the same measurement. Al-Nasser holds a record for connecting gaming systems to one television. That is different from owning the largest collection of playable systems.
Engadget’s 2024 coverage cited a separate Guinness collection record associated with Linda Guillory of Garland, Texas, consisting of 2,430 playable gaming systems. The two figures should not be compared as though they measure the same thing: one counts systems connected through a single-TV setup, while the other concerns the size of a playable collection.
Could an ordinary gamer build a smaller version?
Yes, but the sensible approach is to scale the idea down rather than copy the headline number.
- Start with compatible systems. Group consoles that share HDMI, composite or another common output type.
- Choose the switcher for the signal. An HDMI switcher cannot directly solve composite, component, RF or proprietary-output problems.
- Add a quality scaler where needed. Older systems often need signal conversion and upscaling for a modern display. RetroTINK’s official site is one specialist reference for this category.
- Label every route. Mark both cable ends, switcher inputs and matching power supplies.
- Keep an inventory. A spreadsheet such as Microsoft Excel can record location, input, power and startup instructions.
- Test independently. Confirm every console works before adding it to a shared switching chain.
- Plan power and ventilation. Use properly rated equipment and get professional electrical advice for a large permanent installation.
For a more advanced setup, professional conversion and routing equipment from companies such as Blackmagic Design may be relevant, while HDMI-focused manufacturers such as AVPro Edge, OREI and StarTech.com cover different switching needs. None of these product categories replaces the need to match equipment to each console’s actual signal, resolution, audio format and power requirements.
Why the record is more than a pile of consoles
The impressive number is only part of Al-Nasser’s achievement. The real accomplishment combines collecting, preservation, cataloging, cable management, signal conversion and repeatable operation. The television is the visible endpoint, but the difficult work happens behind it: identifying every system, keeping it powered safely, routing incompatible generations and knowing exactly how to bring the requested machine online.
That is why “444 consoles to one TV” should not be imagined as 444 devices simultaneously active. It is a carefully organized infrastructure that makes hundreds of different gaming systems available through one display.
