Rayman 2: The Great Escape and Tonic Trouble are already available through Nintendo Switch Online’s N64 library. Nintendo announced the two 1999 Nintendo 64 games on December 10, 2025, and released them on December 17, 2025. They require Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack—not the standard Nintendo Switch Online plan.
The pair is therefore no longer “the next” Switch Online addition. Nintendo subsequently added Donkey Kong 64 on June 4, 2026.

What kind of games are they?
Rayman 2: The Great Escape
Rayman 2 is a 3D action-platformer set in Rayman’s world. Robot pirates have attacked, the Heart of the World has been damaged, and Rayman must recover Yellow Lums while restoring his abilities.
Its movement and combat include running, jumping, swimming, climbing, sliding, swinging, flying and attacking enemies with magical fists. The game is the more recognizable of the two additions and is the safer starting point for players interested in revisiting a major 1990s 3D platformer.

Tonic Trouble
Tonic Trouble is a 3D platform-adventure starring Ed, an alien whose spilled tonic causes trouble on Earth. It is a considerably less familiar N64-era release, making it the update’s deeper-cut discovery.
Nintendo’s inclusion gives retro players a convenient way to sample a game that is less commonly associated with the N64 library. Its appeal will depend more on how comfortable a player is with dated 3D platforming and unfamiliar design than on franchise recognition.

Are they worth an Expansion Pack subscription?
Probably not if Rayman 2 and Tonic Trouble are the only games you want. They are included with the subscription rather than presented as individual purchases through the N64 Classics service, so the relevant decision is whether the wider Expansion Pack catalog justifies the annual fee.
The package also includes broader libraries such as N64, Game Boy Advance, Sega Genesis and Virtual Boy games, plus GameCube games on Switch 2 and other included benefits. Check Nintendo’s official Expansion Pack page for the current regional offering.

- Try Tonic Trouble if you enjoy obscure 1990s releases and want something less predictable than another Nintendo-owned classic.
- Consider the Expansion Pack if you will also use its other classic-game libraries and benefits.
Where the N64 library stands now
Rayman 2 and Tonic Trouble were notable because Nintendo expanded the N64 service with two third-party Ubisoft games instead of another Nintendo-owned release. Rayman’s arrival was especially attention-grabbing, while Tonic Trouble provided the more unusual selection.

But neither game is the latest N64 addition anymore. Donkey Kong 64 followed on June 4, 2026, and Nintendo’s current catalog lists all three games. The service should therefore be described as having added Rayman 2 and Tonic Trouble in December 2025, rather than presenting them as upcoming titles.
Because catalog composition is regional and can change, consult Nintendo’s current classic-games list for the region tied to your Nintendo Account.
