“Offline installer” means the main installation package can be stored locally instead of relying entirely on MEmu’s online downloader. It does not make MEmu completely offline. Google Play, account sign-in, app and game downloads, updates, cloud data, and many games still require an internet connection.

- Intel VT-x or AMD-V enabled in BIOS or UEFI.
- 2 GB of RAM, or 4 GB for a 64-bit system.
- 5 GB of free disk space.
These are current MEmu baseline requirements, not a release-specific performance guarantee for every 9.3.1 configuration. MEmu recommends Windows 10 with virtualization enabled, at least 8 GB of RAM, DirectX 11 with OpenGL 4.5 or newer, stronger CPU and graphics performance, and an SSD with at least 10 GB free. Reserve additional space for Android instances, applications, game data, snapshots, and updates.
Although MEmu’s documentation says it runs on Windows 11, Hyper-V-related features can affect startup and performance. MEmu’s current documentation also says there is no native Mac or Linux version. Windows 64-bit, updated graphics drivers, hardware virtualization, and SSD storage are the safer assumptions for this archived release.

Hardware virtualization is enabled in BIOS or UEFI, not normally inside MEmu. The setting may be named:
- Intel: Intel Virtualization Technology, VT-x, or VMX.
- AMD: SVM Mode or AMD-V.
To check the current state in Windows:
- Open Task Manager.
- Select Performance, then CPU.
- Find the Virtualization status.
If it is disabled, restart the computer, enter BIOS or UEFI, enable the relevant option, save the change, and boot Windows again.
Virtualization can still appear enabled while Windows’ hypervisor layer conflicts with MEmu’s preferred engine. Potential conflicts include Hyper-V, Windows Hypervisor Platform, Virtual Machine Platform, Windows Sandbox, Memory Integrity or other virtualization-based security settings, Docker, WSL-related virtualization, VMware, VirtualBox, and other Android emulators.

How to install MEmu 9.3.1
- Confirm that the PC meets the requirements and has enough free space on both the installation drive and the Windows system drive.
- Decide whether the computer depends on Hyper-V, Docker, WSL, Windows Sandbox, or another virtual machine. Do not disable those features without considering the effect on other workloads.
- Download the installer from the official 9.3.1 release page.
- Save the file locally. If available, check its digital signature or published hash before running it.
- Close other emulators and virtual-machine applications.
- Open the installer. If a normal launch fails, right-click it and select Run as administrator.
- Choose an installation directory with adequate free space. A simple path such as
C:MEmucan help when permissions or path handling are involved. - Complete setup and restart Windows if prompted.
- Launch MEmu and allow the first Android instance to initialize.
- Open Multi-MEmu to check the available instance and Android version.
- Test one representative app or game before creating multiple instances.
- Configure and test keyboard mapping, controller input, and any macros you depend on.
Keep the original installer if you need to reproduce the same environment later. Installing a different MEmu version over an existing setup can affect instances and configuration, so document or back up important emulator data first.
Fix MEmu 9.3.1 installation problems
The installer will not start
Re-download the file from the official release page and check its size and signature if available. Then try the following sequence:
- Run the installer as administrator.
- Confirm that the system and installation drives have free space.
- Clear temporary files from
%temp%. - Use a simple installation directory.
- Check whether antivirus or endpoint-security software blocked the file.
- Only test a security-software exclusion when permitted by your security policy, and remove it afterward.
- Review the setup log.
MEmu identifies the setup-log directory as:
C:Users<Windows-user>AppDataLocalMicrovirtsetup
AppData may be hidden in File Explorer.
Setup freezes at 59% or 99%
MEmu’s support materials specifically identify 59% and 99% startup failures as troubleshooting categories. Check these in order:
- Confirm that Intel VT-x or AMD-V is enabled.
- Check for Hyper-V and related Windows virtualization conflicts.
- Update the Intel, AMD, or NVIDIA graphics driver.
- Try the other available rendering mode, such as DirectX or OpenGL.
- Run MEmu with appropriate administrator permissions.
- Check antivirus interference.
- Test a new Android instance to determine whether the original instance is damaged.
- Reinstall from the official offline package if the installation is incomplete.
“Cannot start engine” appears
The offline installer cannot fix every engine failure. Enable VT-x or SVM, close other emulators and virtual machines, check Hyper-V-related features, update the graphics driver, and switch between DirectX and OpenGL. On a laptop, force MEmu to use the dedicated GPU where the manufacturer’s graphics settings allow it.
MEmu also documents this command for disabling the Windows hypervisor at boot:
Rank #4
- Compatible with Android devices and fits mobile devices ranging from 100mm to 170mm in length.
- Hall Effect Joysticks and Triggers
- Refined bumpers and D-pad. Light and tactile.
- 2 Pro back paddle buttons
- Profile button. Wear-resistant metal joystick rings. Turbo function.
bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off
Run it from an elevated Command Prompt and restart Windows afterward. This changes boot behavior and can affect Hyper-V-dependent software, Docker, WSL, Windows Sandbox, virtual machines, and enterprise security controls. It is not a universal fix. If you need those features, investigate MEmu’s documented Hyper-V mode instead.
Black screen, graphical corruption, or crashes
- Install a current graphics driver from the GPU manufacturer.
- Switch the rendering mode.
- Force MEmu to use the discrete GPU on a laptop.
- Reduce allocated CPU cores, RAM, resolution, or frame rate.
- Test a fresh Android instance.
- Avoid running MEmu inside another virtual machine.
MEmu’s requirements guidance warns against running the emulator inside other virtual-machine software and recommends changing or updating the graphics configuration when compatibility problems occur.
Low FPS or severe lag
Verify virtualization first, then reduce the emulator’s resource allocation if the host is overloaded. An SSD and at least 8 GB of system RAM are more realistic for gaming than the published minimum. Close competing emulators and virtual machines, update the graphics driver, and test whether the issue affects one game or every instance. A game may also require a newer Android API level or may restrict emulator use; changing to an offline installer will not resolve those app-level limitations.
Controller input does not work
Confirm that Windows detects the controller before launching MEmu. Reconnect it, close competing controller-mapping software, and check MEmu’s key-mapping configuration. Test the controller in a supported game and verify that any macro using onkeydown is assigned to the correct input. The release notes document support for controller macro keys, but they do not guarantee compatibility with every controller or game.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Google Play or app installation fails
The installer being offline-capable does not make Google Play offline. Sign-in, app downloads, updates, game data, and many license or server checks require a working network connection. Check the Android instance’s date and time, network access, available storage, and Google Play state. If only one game fails, check that game’s Android-version and emulator-compatibility requirements.

Should you disable Hyper-V on Windows 11?
Not automatically. Some MEmu configurations work better when Hyper-V and related Windows features are disabled, while other users need Hyper-V for Docker, WSL, Windows Sandbox, virtual machines, or security features. Disabling it may improve compatibility for one workload while breaking another.
First identify which virtualization stack your PC needs. If you do not depend on Hyper-V-based tools, MEmu’s troubleshooting guidance may justify testing with conflicting features disabled. If you do depend on them, look at MEmu’s Hyper-V mode documentation and accept that performance or compatibility may differ from the preferred non-Hyper-V configuration.
MEmu 9.3.1 versus alternatives
| Emulator | Most suitable for | Important trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| BlueStacks | Broad mainstream game compatibility and a large support ecosystem. | May be heavier or include more promotional surfaces, and it will not reproduce a MEmu-specific environment. |
| LDPlayer | Windows gaming, key mapping, and multi-instance workflows. | Not a drop-in replacement for MEmu images, instances, macros, or automation setups. |
| MuMuPlayer | Users who need Windows and macOS availability, including Apple-silicon Mac support. | Uses a different Android base, control system, and instance tooling. |
| Android Studio Emulator | Developers, QA testers, debugging, and Android API-level testing. | Requires more setup and is not primarily designed as a consumer gaming emulator. |
Choose based on the Android version an app requires, Windows architecture, VT and Hyper-V coexistence, controller and macro needs, multi-instance support, GPU compatibility, Google Play behavior, Mac availability, archived-installer access, and the quality of the vendor’s official support channel.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsBottom line
MEmu 9.3.1 is an official, identifiable Windows release with an offline-installer link published by MEmu on December 29, 2025. It is a sensible choice when exact-version compatibility, reproducibility, or the specific 9.3.1 input and game fixes matter. Otherwise, use the current official MEmu build first and keep 9.3.1 as a targeted fallback—not as a claim that the archived version is universally better.
