Release date, territories and preorder timing
Deep Silver announced that preorders are open for launch on February 4, 2027. Storefront calendars may show February 5 for territories that receive the game on the later local date; the announcement specifically identifies parts of Asia, Australia and New Zealand as examples. Check the date displayed by the store attached to your account, because the local release moment can differ even when the global launch announcement uses February 4.

There is no announced beta period, trial weekend or other pre-launch play window in the official information currently available. Buying before launch therefore secures the listed edition and its preorder bonus, but it should not be treated as a promise that the game can be played before the regional release time.
Platforms and technical support
PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro
The documented PlayStation release is for PS5. PlayStation Blog describes METRO 2039 as a solo, story-driven first-person shooter. On PS5 and PS5 Pro, the game is described as supporting ray tracing at 60 frames per second in a dedicated Performance Mode. That is a platform feature description, not a guarantee that every visual mode or resolution will run at 60fps.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
No PS4 version is listed in the launch platforms. If you own an older PlayStation console, do not assume that a PS4 build or a free cross-generation entitlement exists unless the store page for your territory explicitly adds one.
Xbox Series X|S
The Xbox listing identifies METRO 2039 as single-player and optimized for Xbox Series X|S. The documented Xbox generation is therefore Series X|S; an Xbox One version is not listed. Console buyers should select the edition attached to the Xbox account and console family they actually use, rather than relying on a previous-generation entitlement that has not been announced.
PC: Steam and Epic Games Store
PC preorders are listed on Steam and Epic Games Store. The Digital Deluxe Edition is documented on both PC storefronts. The physical Deluxe package can also be sold for PC as a code-in-box according to the publisher’s edition information, so a boxed PC purchase may not contain a disc.

METRO 2039 editions compared
| Edition | Format and platforms | Included content |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | Digital or physical; PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC storefronts | Full game and the Specialist Pack preorder bonus. |
| Digital Deluxe | Digital; Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox and PS5 listings | Full game, Story Expansion DLC, digital art book, digital soundtrack and the Specialist Pack. |
| Physical Deluxe | Physical console editions; PC code-in-box is stated by the publisher | Game disc, SteelBook, hardback art book, Story Expansion DLC, digital art book, digital soundtrack and the Specialist Pack. |
| Collector’s | Physical edition through selected retailers; PS5 and Xbox disc editions, with PC code-in-box | All physical Deluxe contents plus a wearable Spartan Helmet replica. |
The major buying differences are whether you want a disc or digital license, whether you want the future Story Expansion DLC included now, and whether the physical collectibles justify the additional cost and storage. The Collector’s package is the only documented option with the wearable Spartan Helmet replica.
What the Standard Edition is for
Standard is the straightforward choice if you want the base game and preorder bonus without committing to the Story Expansion DLC or physical collectibles. It is available in both digital and physical forms across the announced console and PC channels. The Specialist Pack is included with a preorder of this edition, so choosing Standard does not remove the bonus.
What the Digital Deluxe Edition adds
Digital Deluxe adds the Story Expansion DLC, a digital art book and a digital soundtrack to the full game and Specialist Pack. It is the practical option for players who prefer downloads and already know they want the announced expansion content. It does not include the SteelBook, hardback art book or helmet replica, which are tied to physical packages.

What the Physical Deluxe Edition adds
Physical Deluxe combines the expansion and digital media with a game disc, SteelBook and hardback art book. On PC, the publisher states that the package uses a code-in-box rather than a PC disc. Confirm the exact package description at the retailer before ordering, especially if receiving a physical disc is important to you.

- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
What the Collector’s Edition adds
Collector’s includes the documented Physical Deluxe contents and a wearable Spartan Helmet replica. Availability is through selected retailers, and the listed formats are PS5 and Xbox disc editions plus a PC code-in-box. Stock, regional availability and retailer return terms are not established by the game announcement, so treat the retailer’s listing as the authority for those details.
Specialist Pack preorder bonus
PLAION describes the Specialist Pack as a universal preorder bonus, meaning it is attached to every preorder edition rather than reserved for Deluxe or Collector’s buyers. The pack contains blueprints that unlock three swappable backpack upgrades early:
- Equipment Specialist Pouch: speeds crafting of advanced weapons and gear.
- Chemtech Specialist Pouch: supports exploration of radioactive areas with more gas-mask filters and more reliable equipment.
- Munitions Specialist Pouch: provides access to rarer, more powerful ammunition.
Only one of these backpack upgrades can be equipped at a time. The wording describes an early unlock, not permanent preorder-only exclusivity; the cited announcement does not say that the upgrades are unavailable to players who do not preorder. If you are choosing between editions, the Specialist Pack should not be the reason to pay for Deluxe or Collector’s, because it is included with Standard preorders as well.

Steam lists a separate “METRO 2039 Deluxe Edition Upgrade” item within the Deluxe package. That confirms an upgrade listing on Steam, but the available material does not establish a universal Standard-to-Deluxe upgrade path across PlayStation, Xbox, Steam and Epic Games Store.

An upgrade item on one storefront does not automatically transfer to another platform, and the cited information does not state whether a physical Standard copy can be converted to a digital Deluxe license.
Prices and preorder discounts
| Storefront or offer | Documented figure | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Xbox Standard | $69.99 | US Xbox listing in 2026; regional prices and pre-launch changes may differ. |

The $69.99 and $99.99 figures are US Xbox listing prices, not a global price promise. Taxes, currency conversion, regional pricing and later adjustments can change the amount shown at checkout. The Steam and Epic discounts are eligibility offers for qualifying previous owners; confirm that the older game is owned on the same storefront account before assuming the reduction will apply.

Steam
Steam’s official support policy allows a preorder refund at any time before release. Once the game releases, the normal rule applies: request the refund within two weeks of release and keep playtime below two hours. If you cancel before launch, retain the purchase record and use Steam Support for the account that placed the order.

PlayStation Store
PlayStation’s cancellation timing depends on when payment was taken and whether downloading or streaming has started. If a digital preorder was paid more than 14 days before release, it can be canceled before release provided the main product has not begun downloading or streaming. If payment was taken 14 days or less before release, the policy provides a 14-day cancellation window, again subject to its download and streaming conditions.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Automatic preloading can affect eligibility. If you want to preserve the ability to cancel, review the preorder’s download settings and the current PlayStation policy before the preload process begins. Add-on content can have separate handling, so read the transaction details rather than assuming every component follows the same timing.
Xbox, Epic Games Store and physical retailers
The cited METRO 2039 materials do not provide a platform-wide Xbox or Epic Games Store refund rule. Use the refund terms displayed by the storefront attached to your order. Physical-retailer refunds are controlled by the retailer’s own terms; the game announcement does not establish a common return period for discs, code-in-box packages or Collector’s items.
Early access, preload and launch-day access
No official source cited for this announcement promises an early-access period, beta access, launch-weekend head start or preload date. The release date is the earliest documented access point: February 4, 2027 in the principal schedule, or February 5 where the local territory uses that date.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesDo not infer early access from the Deluxe or Collector’s names. Those editions add DLC, books, packaging and the helmet replica, but the documented contents do not include extra days of play. Likewise, a store showing a download button before launch would not by itself establish when the game can be started; the platform’s release clock controls access.

Preorder checklist
- Confirm your platform: select PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam or Epic Games Store, and check that the account and console or PC launcher match.
- Check the regional release date: use the date shown for your territory; February 5 may apply in parts of Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
- Compare the edition contents: decide whether you need Story Expansion DLC, physical books, a SteelBook or the Spartan Helmet replica.
- Verify the Specialist Pack: every preorder edition should list the three backpack-upgrade blueprints.
- Review the storefront refund terms: especially if buying digitally well before launch or enabling automatic preload on PlayStation.
- Check the final price and eligibility: US Xbox prices are documented at $69.99 Standard and $99.99 Deluxe, while Steam and Epic discounts require qualifying prior ownership.
- Save the receipt: keep the order email, edition name and storefront account details in case you need to cancel or contact support.
Common preorder pitfalls
- Assuming every platform has the same upgrade: Steam lists a Deluxe upgrade item, but a universal cross-platform path is not established.
- Paying for Deluxe to obtain the preorder bonus: the Specialist Pack is included with Standard as well.
- Expecting early play from a premium edition: no early-access entitlement is documented.
- Confusing PC code-in-box with a disc: the physical PC Deluxe and Collector’s descriptions use a code-in-box format.
- Starting a PlayStation preload without checking cancellation conditions: downloading or streaming can affect preorder eligibility.
- Treating US prices as universal: the listed dollar amounts come from a 2026 US Xbox listing and can vary by region and date.
