Yes—Minecraft Legends is available for Windows 10 and Windows 11 PCs. It is a standalone action-strategy game, not an edition of Minecraft: Java Edition or Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. You can buy it through the Microsoft/Xbox Store or Steam, or play it through an eligible PC Game Pass subscription while it remains in the catalog.
The safest download is through one of those official storefronts. Owning regular Minecraft does not automatically mean you own Minecraft Legends. Choose Microsoft/Xbox for tighter Xbox and Launcher integration, Steam for a Steam-centered library, or PC Game Pass if you want to try the game without buying it outright.

What is Minecraft Legends?
Minecraft Legends is an action-strategy game developed by Mojang Studios and Blackbird Interactive and published by Xbox Game Studios. It launched on April 18, 2023, for Windows PC and consoles.
In the campaign, piglin forces are spreading Nether corruption across the Overworld. You explore a changing world, gather resources, build structures, recruit allies, attack piglin bases, and defend villages. Unlike standard Minecraft, it is not an open-ended survival-building sandbox. You directly control a hero while giving orders to allied units and constructing defenses in real time. It is also not turn-based strategy.
#1 Best Overall
The game includes a solo campaign, online co-op, competitive multiplayer, and additional challenge content such as Lost Legends.
Is Minecraft Legends available on Windows 10 and 11?
Yes. The Windows version supports Windows 10 and Windows 11, subject to the published hardware and operating-system requirements. The official Minecraft listing specifies Windows 10 version 18362.0 or higher, a 64-bit x64 system, and DirectX 12 with Hardware Feature Level 11.
“Minecraft for Windows” usually refers to Bedrock Edition. Minecraft Legends for Windows is a separate product. It is neither Java Edition nor Bedrock Edition, and regular Minecraft ownership should not be assumed to include it.

Where to download Minecraft Legends on PC
Microsoft/Xbox Store
Use the official Windows product page if you want Microsoft Store ownership, Xbox ecosystem integration, and the Windows version bundled with the Minecraft Launcher. The U.S. storefront snapshot used for this guide showed the standard edition at $39.99 or more and the Deluxe Edition at $49.99 or more. Prices, taxes, promotions, and regional availability can change.
- Open the official Xbox/Microsoft Store product page.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account that will own or access the game.
- Buy the standard or Deluxe Edition, or confirm that your account has an eligible Game Pass subscription.
- Open the Xbox app for Windows or Microsoft Store, depending on the installation option shown.
- Search for Minecraft Legends and select Install.
- If it does not appear, open Microsoft Store → Library or My Library and select the download icon.
- Launch the game using the same Microsoft/Xbox account and allow updates to finish before multiplayer.
Microsoft’s Store installation guidance explains how owned digital purchases appear in the library.
PC Game Pass
PC Game Pass is useful if you already subscribe or want to test the game before buying it. The current Xbox listing shows Minecraft Legends included in PC-related Game Pass categories, including PC-only and Ultimate listings. Treat that as a current catalog snapshot, not a permanent entitlement: plan names, prices, and catalogs can change.
Game Pass access is tied to the Microsoft account and generally ends when the subscription ends or the title leaves the catalog. See Microsoft’s digital-goods usage rules for the relevant limitations.

- Open the official Steam page and purchase the game.
- Open the Steam client and select Library.
- Select Minecraft Legends, then choose Install.
- Choose an installation drive with sufficient free space.
- Launch the game and sign in with or link a Microsoft account when prompted.
Steam requires a Microsoft account for multiplayer, Marketplace access, and Lost Legends. Buying through Steam does not make it the same entitlement as a Microsoft Store purchase.
PC system requirements
The official Minecraft listing and Steam page present slightly different information. Minecraft’s page provides the processor, memory, graphics, and DirectX requirements; Steam adds a 24 GB storage requirement. Because updates and temporary installation files also need room, keep more than 24 GB free.
| Requirement | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 version 18362.0 or higher | Windows 10 version 18362.0 or higher |
| Architecture | x64 | x64 |

| DirectX | DirectX 12 API; Hardware Feature Level 11 | DirectX 12 API; Hardware Feature Level 11 |
| Storage | Steam lists 24 GB available space; extra room is advisable | |

What can you do in Minecraft Legends?
Campaign and exploration
The campaign combines exploration with preparation and real-time battles. Each playthrough’s world is described as dynamic and varied, so routes, resources, villages, and enemy positions can change. The focus is strategic decision-making rather than unrestricted construction.
Unit command and construction
You gather resources, recruit familiar Minecraft mobs and other allies, build support structures and defenses, attack piglin bases, and protect villages. The major free-content update highlighted frogs, witches, cauldrons, clangers, and air choppers.
Online co-op
The official listings support online co-op for two to four players. This is online co-op, not local split-screen based on the listed capabilities. Players can coordinate exploration, attacks, resource gathering, and village defense.
Competitive multiplayer
Online multiplayer supports four to eight players. Teams defend their own settlements while attempting to destroy opposing bases. Xbox and Steam listings identify cross-platform multiplayer, but cross-platform play should not be treated as proof of universal cross-save or progression transfer.

Lost Legends and extra challenges
Lost Legends are additional challenge scenarios with alternative objectives and exclusive cosmetic rewards for successful completion. They are separate from the main campaign.

- DELUXE EDITION: Includes the Minecraft Legends base game and the Deluxe Skin pack, featuring 6 additional in-game skins: 1 hero, 4 mounts, and an additional mount skin when it becomes available.
- Experience an epic legend from the Minecraft universe and the Overworld as you’ve never seen it before.
- Form alliances with new friends and familiar mobs, then lead the charge in epic battles against the fierce piglins to defend the Overworld.
- Traverse a lush, dynamic world that’s rich in resources and different in each playthrough.
- Challenge your friends or team up in intense battles as you defend your village while leading your units to destroy your opponents’ settlements (requires Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, each sold separately).
Accessibility
The listed accessibility features include adjustable difficulty, on-demand tutorials, no quick-time events, and text-to-speech and speech-to-text communications. The Xbox listing reports six accessibility features and 27 supported languages; available options can depend on platform and configuration.
Standard Edition vs Deluxe Edition
| Edition | What it suits | Important trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | Players who want the core game | Does not include the Deluxe Skin Pack |
| Deluxe | Players who want cosmetic extras | Costs more; the extra content does not add a separate campaign or core gameplay mode |
| Deluxe Skin Pack | Existing owners who specifically want cosmetics | Usually poor value for a new buyer if the Deluxe Edition is only modestly more expensive |
The surfaced U.S. Microsoft listing showed the Deluxe Skin Pack at $14.99, but promotions are temporary. Check the live storefront before purchasing.
Microsoft Store, Game Pass, or Steam?
| Option | Choose it when | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Microsoft/Xbox Store | You use Xbox services, want Launcher integration, or prefer Microsoft ownership | The purchase is tied to the Microsoft ecosystem and account |
| PC Game Pass | You already subscribe or want to try the game | Access depends on the active subscription and catalog availability |
| Steam | You keep your PC games in Steam or value Steam library features | A Microsoft account is still needed for several online and account-linked features |
Best value for trying it: an eligible Game Pass subscription you already have. Best for long-term independent access: buy the edition from the storefront you intend to use. Best for Steam users: Steam. Best for Xbox ecosystem users: Microsoft/Xbox Store.
Moving Minecraft Legends to a new Windows PC
For a Microsoft-owned copy, install the relevant Xbox, Microsoft Store, or Minecraft software on the new computer and sign in with the Microsoft account that owns the game. Find it in the Store or Xbox library and reinstall it. Microsoft ownership is account-based, so you should not need to buy the same Microsoft Store copy again.
Do not assume that every save, entitlement, or progression state transfers between every storefront and platform. Cross-platform multiplayer and cross-platform save synchronization are separate features. The official Minecraft license-transfer guidance covers moving a Microsoft-owned title between devices.

- Install the game on a drive with more than the listed 24 GB free.
- Check that the PC is x64 and supports DirectX 12 with the required feature level.
- Use the recommended specifications rather than the minimum if you want more performance headroom.
- Do not use Windows 10S, which Steam lists as unsupported.
Multiplayer does not work
Check Microsoft account sign-in, privacy and online-safety settings, internet connectivity, pending game updates, and whether everyone is using compatible platform and account configurations. A Microsoft account is required for the Steam version’s multiplayer, Marketplace, and Lost Legends features. Console subscription requirements should not automatically be applied to Windows PC play.
