Kill Block is not a fixed map. In Modern Warfare 4’s Gunfight, it combines two outer End Slabs with one Central Slab, then replaces that three-part Combo after round two and every two rounds afterward. The layout and the team’s shared randomized loadout change together, so the winning habit is to read the Central Slab first, use the unchanged side-swap round to expose enemy routes, and rebuild your approach after every reset.
What is Kill Block in Modern Warfare 4?
Kill Block is the West Bridge Advanced Military Training Facility’s adaptive live-fire battleground. Each match assembles three rectangular environments: a Central Slab and two End Slabs. Their connections alter pathways, sightlines, cover and the pace of engagements. More than 500 configurations are planned at launch.

Every player has one life per round. Both teams receive the same randomized Primary and Secondary Weapons, Tactical and Lethal Equipment, removing the usual custom-loadout advantage. Communication, timing and adaptation therefore matter more than memorizing one route.

How often does Kill Block change?
The precise cadence is straightforward: the map stays the same for the first two rounds, then the Slabs and shared loadout change after round two and every two rounds thereafter. A team wins the match by reaching six round wins.

An earlier official preview described layouts reconfiguring “throughout Gunfight rounds.” The later launch guidance gives players the usable timing: side swap after round one, then a Slab and loadout change after round two and each two-round interval that follows.
Where should I focus in the first round?
Start at the Central Slab. It commonly creates encounters from several angles and is the clearest place to understand how both End Slabs attach to the current Combo.
Read the connections, not every lane
Identify the Central Slab’s entrances, the nearest hard cover and the routes that lead into each End Slab. You do not need a complete map in the opening seconds; you need to know which approaches can threaten your team and where a retreat is possible.

Use persistent landmarks
Call out fixed references such as trucks, concrete barriers, wrecked vehicles, walls, signs, arrows, numbers and construction markings. These landmarks remain useful when a familiar Slab is paired with a different neighbour, helping teammates describe positions without relying on a permanent minimap route.
What should I do in the side-swap round?
Round 2 is a controlled experiment: the geometry is unchanged, but each team attacks from the opposite perspective. Use it to turn the first round’s information against your opponents.

- Note which entrances opponents used and whether they favored a fast central push or a wide End-Slab route.
- Check the firing positions that exposed you in round one; the same angle may now be useful from the opposite side, but only if the new spawn perspective protects its retreat.
- Doors offer three choices: open them slowly for stealth, force them for speed, or shoot them open when the noise and instant access are worth revealing your position.
- Do not duplicate the same angle with every teammate. Hold different entrances so one grenade or flank cannot clear the whole defense.
How should I play after each Slab reset?
Treat every new Combo as a fresh tactical puzzle. A route that worked two rounds earlier may now end at a wall, expose a balcony or run into a longer sightline because a different End Slab is attached.
Match movement to the shared loadout

Recheck the new entrances before committing to a weapon-specific position. Split attention across likely approaches rather than stacking on one doorway, and keep a fallback route for the moment the opposing team identifies your angle.

Account for weather and elevation
Some Slabs simulate rain or snow. Reduced visibility can invalidate a distant firing position, and the official PlayStation description says water or ice particles can build on a weapon until you swap weapons or reload. Rooftops, containers and balconies extend your view but expose you to more surrounding angles; use them when the Combo offers a safe retreat or reliable teammate cover.
Recognize familiar pieces without trusting old routes
Components may resemble Crash, Storage Town or Shoot House. Recognition is only a starting point: the neighbouring Slabs determine approach lanes, cover and cross-map angles, so rebuild the route whenever the surrounding Combo changes.

How do the Central Slab and End Slabs differ?
The Central Slab is the primary orientation and collision point. Its multiple entrances often produce multi-angle fights, making it the best place to establish initial callouts and decide whether the team should contest or bypass the middle.
The End Slabs shape the approach. Their streets, compounds, shipping containers, temporary facades, multi-level structures, chokepoints and low openings can either provide a protected flank or create a long exposed lane into the centre. Judge each End Slab by how it connects to the current Central Slab, not by its appearance in a previous Combo.

How does overtime work on Kill Block?
If the timer expires before a team is eliminated, an Overtime Flag deploys. Capturing it wins the round; if nobody captures it, the team with the health advantage wins.
Plan for that possibility before the flag appears. Keep at least one covered route toward the likely objective area, preserve enough health to retain the tiebreak advantage, and avoid crossing open ground unless the capture or denial is worth the exposure.

What is the practical Kill Block routine?
- Round 1: identify the Central Slab’s entrances, cover and connections to both End Slabs.
- Round 2: exploit the side swap to test enemy routes and replace exposed positions.
- After every reset: re-read the Combo, check weather and elevation, and choose movement that fits the new shared loadout.
- Before the timer expires: preserve a covered Overtime route and avoid unnecessary open-ground crossings.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I memorize one route and use it every match?
No. The same Slab can play differently when a new neighbour changes its entrances, cover and sightlines. Memorize landmarks and decision rules instead of a single path.
Which launch modes use Kill Block?

Why is the side-swap round valuable if nothing on the map moves?
