The planned Magic: The Gathering and Monster Hunter Secret Lair collaboration has been postponed. Wizards of the Coast said on November 26, 2025, that it was pulling back and redesigning the Superdrop; the announcement does not give a replacement release date or reveal revised cards.
What happened to the Monster Hunter Secret Lair?
Wizards had officially announced a Secret Lair x Monster Hunter Superdrop, a physical Magic: The Gathering card release tied to Capcom’s game series. On November 26, 2025, Wizards said the original version would not proceed as planned: it was pulling the release back and redesigning the Superdrop. Capcom, Wizards said, was on board with trying the collaboration again.
Wizards explained that the first version fell short on card selection and on faithfully incorporating Monster Hunter’s world and mechanics. Those are the company’s stated reasons for the redesign, not an independent assessment. In its announcement, Wizards wrote: “But in our excitement, we missed the mark on elements like card selection and faithfully integrating the world and mechanics of Monster Hunter.”
Is there a new release date or card list?
Not in the reviewed announcement. Wizards said it would share new details and an updated release date “in a few months,” and asked readers to look for more information in 2026. That statement is not a confirmed launch window. The announcement does not provide a replacement date, redesigned card list, product configuration, sale window, or price. It therefore does not establish that the revised drop is available to buy or preorder.

What should buyers know before comparing it with other Secret Lair drops?
Wait for Wizards to publish the revised product details before comparing this collaboration with other releases. The useful points to check are the confirmed release timing, disclosed cards, sale window, and product configuration; none is specified for the redesigned Monster Hunter drop in the announcement.
Wizards’ general Secret Lair guidance describes a lifecycle that can include announcement, preorder or sale, production, release, shipping, and replacement support. It also says that, generally, additional orders cannot be placed after a sale closes because the series is limited. This guidance, updated July 15, 2026, describes Secret Lair generally and does not confirm a Monster Hunter sale or schedule. A Secret Lair product may be collected, played in a deck, or displayed.

For players who use physical Magic cards, standard-size card sleeves are a general accessory for protecting cards in play; they are not a Monster Hunter-branded product and do not indicate that the collaboration is available.
