Moon Sweepers supports keyboard-and-mouse play and full gamepad support for Xbox controllers, PlayStation controllers and Steam Input. Its controls are context-sensitive: the same buttons can operate tools on foot, then become steering, braking, cleaning or lights controls in a vehicle. What controls does Moon Sweepers use?
Moon Sweepers is designed for either keyboard and mouse or a controller. The guide describing this layout says the in-game controls are fixed, but Steam Input can remap a controller. “Fixed” should not be read as a guarantee that every launch build or future patch will use identical keys. If your prompt disagrees with this table, use the binding shown by your own build.

Controller play is officially supported rather than dependent on an unofficial profile. Xbox and PlayStation pads are named by Steam, and Steam Input provides an additional remapping layer. This context switching is important when moving between a cleaning job and a vehicle. A button that appears to “stop working” may have changed purpose because the game is waiting for a driving, building or equipment action.
How do I check or remap Moon Sweepers controls?
Start with the game’s own binding screen, then use Steam Input if you need a different controller layout. The complete current control list has not been published as a static developer table.
- Launch Moon Sweepers and open the pause menu with Escape on keyboard or the controller’s Menu button.

How do I stop the vehicle camera from recentering?
Version 1.0.5, dated October 28, 2026, added a Vehicle camera follows behind option under Settings > Controls. Turn it off if you want the camera to stay where you turned it instead of automatically moving behind the vehicle.
- Pause the game and open Settings.
- Select Controls.
- Find Vehicle camera follows behind.
- Disable the option, then return to driving and move the right stick or mouse to confirm that the view no longer automatically recenters behind the vehicle.
The same 1.0.5 patch fixed a stuck-forward or continuing-input problem that could occur when a controller, joystick, wheel or pedals were resting off-centre. If a vehicle keeps moving after you release an input, make sure the device is centred and that the game is updated before looking for a remapping workaround.

Moon Sweepers received two relevant updates shortly after launch. These changes explain why an older video or written guide can show different equipment and navigation behavior.

- Added the Vehicle camera follows behind toggle in Settings > Controls.
- Fixed an input state that could leave the player driving forward when a controller, joystick, wheel or pedals were not centred.

- After the night-vision upgrade, pressing N cycles between the helmet lamp, night-vision goggles and off.
- Right-clicking the Moon map can set a waypoint, focus the camera or teleport, depending on the selected map action.
- The Teleport Panel allows travel between discovered stations.
- HUD indicators show the lamp or goggles state, available jetpack boosts and gravity boots.
These notes are practical controls information, not merely bug-fix history: they change how you select equipment, navigate the map and manage the vehicle camera.

Does Moon Sweepers have difficulty settings?
No named Easy, Normal or Hard selector is documented in the Steam product listing or the official patch notes available for the October 2026 launch. That is a statement about the documented interface, not proof that a hidden or newly added option can never appear in a later build.
The game’s pressure comes from its systems rather than a published difficulty menu. If you are following a guide that promises a difficulty selector, check the current main menu and Settings screen after updating. At present, the safest description is that Moon Sweepers does not document separate difficulty modes and instead varies challenge through progression, tasks, equipment and cooperation.

Moon Sweepers supports online co-op for up to 16 players. Every player uses the same broad input model—movement, tool use, collection and interaction on foot, with a different set of actions when operating a vehicle—but the practical workload can be divided among the group. One player can focus on collecting lunar dust while another handles transport or vehicle cleaning, reducing the need for every participant to master every context immediately.
Because the game’s controls are context-sensitive, explain the relevant prompt rather than only a button symbol when helping another player. “Use the vehicle brake” or “open the map and set a waypoint” is less ambiguous than naming a face button that may be labelled differently on another controller.

Bottom line: what can you rely on today?
Moon Sweepers has official keyboard-and-mouse and full controller support, with Xbox, PlayStation and Steam Input explicitly listed. The reported keyboard defaults cover movement, tools, map, equipment, building and interaction, while controller inputs change substantially between walking and driving. Update to at least the launch-week patches for the vehicle-camera toggle, corrected off-centre input behavior and the documented lamp, goggles, map and teleport controls.
For difficulty, do not expect a documented Easy/Normal/Hard menu: the official listing and patch notes reviewed for the October 2026 release do not name one.
