Warner Bros. Games released the official Mortal Kombat 1 Homelander gameplay trailer on May 29, 2024. It announced Homelander’s June release schedule and offered a first look at Ferra as a Kameo Fighter. The reveal is now a snapshot of the game’s 2024 DLC rollout: both characters are included in the Kombat Pack, which Warner Bros. Games later bundled in Mortal Kombat 1: Definitive Edition.
What the Homelander trailer revealed
The official Warner Bros. Games ANZ trailer, published May 29, 2024, introduced Homelander’s gameplay in Mortal Kombat 1 and showed Fatalities. Its description also said Ferra would join the Kameo roster later that June. The trailer is the source for the specific animations on screen; the announcement did not publish a move list or name individual attacks.

Homelander’s defining gameplay distinction is flight. In a May 30, 2024 Xbox Wire interview, NetherRealm designer Joe Epstein said the team created unique flying poses and modes to emphasize his mobility and distinguish him from the other fighters. He also described complications in developing the game’s first flight mechanic.

Adapting the character posed a particular challenge: in The Boys, Homelander’s overwhelming power means he has relatively few conventional fights to use as pose references. Epstein said that limitation was less of an issue when the team designed his Fatalities and Brutalities. The creative question he used to frame the work was: “Does this feel like Homelander?”

The publisher’s Mortal Kombat 1 FAQ says the base game is sold physically and digitally for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC, and that the Kombat Pack is also available as a separate digital purchase. If buying specifically for these characters, check the platform listing and edition contents: a physical copy of the base game alone should not be assumed to include the pack.
The publisher announced historical Definitive Edition digital suggested retail prices of $69.99 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and $59.99 for Switch in May 2025. Those are announcement-era SRPs, not current retailer quotes; verify today’s price, platform availability, and included content on the listing before purchasing.
