No. MultiVersus is not shutting down today: Warner Bros. Games ended online service on May 30, 2025, and delisted the game from its named storefronts. Some players can still use the offline version if they installed the final game and logged in during Season 5; offline play includes local matches and The Lab.
When did MultiVersus shut down?
Warner Bros. Games ended MultiVersus online service on May 30, 2025, at 9 a.m. PDT. The game was also removed from PlayStation Network, Microsoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store, so it is no longer available to download there. Season 5, which ran from February 4 to May 30, 2025, was the final season and final content update. Warner Bros. Games’ announcement and FAQ

The “three years” refers roughly to the time since the game’s 2022 beta-era release, not three uninterrupted years of commercial availability. Steam lists July 19, 2022, as the release date; the game later went offline before its 2024 relaunch. Steam listing

Offline play was preserved for players who completed the required steps during Season 5. The available modes are local play, either solo against AI or with up to three other players, and The Lab training mode. All characters are unlocked and playable in that offline version. Warner Bros. Games said offline play would remain available “for the foreseeable future,” which is not a guarantee of permanent availability. Warner Bros. Games’ FAQ
What was required to keep offline access?
Players needed to install the latest game version and log in during Season 5, between February 4 and May 30, 2025, before 9 a.m. PDT on the final day. Logging in created a local save associated with that PlayStation Network, Microsoft Store, Steam, or Epic Games Store account.
If you wanted offline access on more than one platform, you had to repeat the installation and login steps on each one. The FAQ also said that players who had deleted or uninstalled the game before Season 5 ended could reinstall afterward, but access to earned or purchased content still depended on having installed the latest version and logged in during the season. Current reinstall or save behavior can vary by platform, so do not assume access is recoverable for a particular account without checking that platform.

What happened to Season 5 and purchases?
Season 5 featured Aquaman, Lola Bunny, a 70-tier Battle Pass, events, and challenges. Warner Bros. Games said its new content and rewards could be earned through gameplay. Real-money transactions ended on January 31, 2025. Unused Gleamium and character tickets remained usable in-game until Season 5 ended, and remaining character tickets could be exchanged for Gleamium through the in-game store during that period. Those were temporary terms, not current purchase options. Warner Bros. Games’ FAQ

The official FAQ does not establish a reason for the shutdown, and the reviewed official sources do not provide player counts, sales, or revenue figures. It would be speculation to attribute the decision to low player numbers or commercial performance. The Player First Games and Warner Bros. Games teams said of making Season 5 the final season, “This decision was not made lightly.” Warner Bros. Games’ FAQ
