If My Winter Car closes but Windows stays running, work through the game-focused checks below, starting with Steam’s file verification. If Windows shows a blue or gray screen, restarts, or the entire PC powers off, troubleshoot the computer’s stability instead. These are sensible checks, not guaranteed cures: My Winter Car is still in Early Access, and the cause of a crash depends on your system and the circumstances.
1. Identify what is crashing
Notice what happens when the problem occurs. If only My Winter Car exits to the desktop, use the game troubleshooting checks in this guide. If Windows displays a blue or gray screen, forces a restart, or the whole PC loses power, that is a system-level failure. My Winter Car is a single-player Early Access game by Amistech Games, released on Steam on December 29, 2025. Steam warns that Early Access games are incomplete and can change. The developer’s description says the game is playable while acknowledging bugs or glitches that may hamper long play. The latest official developer update located here is v.260917-01, dated September 17, 2026. Its notes cover gameplay changes and particular issues, including audio cracking with some exhaust configurations and some Logitech pedal assignment problems; they do not announce a general PC-crash fix. 4. Verify the installed files in Steam
Steam recommends verifying files when a game crashes. Verification checks the installation for problems and may take several minutes; it is a troubleshooting attempt, not a guarantee that every crash will be fixed.
- Open Steam and select Library.
- Right-click My Winter Car, or open the game’s gear menu, then choose Properties.
- Open Installed Files.
- Select Verify integrity of game files and let the check finish.
- Launch the game and see whether the same crash can still be reproduced.

5. Compare your PC with the published requirements
Check your Windows edition, CPU, graphics card, RAM, DirectX support, and available storage against Steam’s listing. Requirements are comparison points, not proof that a particular component caused a crash.

These are the requirements on Steam’s store listing, accessed October 8, 2026. They do not establish that upgrading a component will resolve a crash. In particular, do not buy RAM just because the game closes: the listing gives 8 GB as minimum and 16 GB as recommended, but does not identify low memory as a demonstrated cause of My Winter Car crashes. 6. If you use mods, test a clean launch
If My Winter Car is modded, try launching without mods to see whether the crash still occurs. Treat this as a cautious isolation test, not an official game-specific fix. Back up your saves before changing mod or game files, and do not delete saves as a routine troubleshooting step. If the unmodded game works, reintroduce changes carefully to identify a possible trigger.

Write down what you were doing immediately before the crash and whether it happens again under the same conditions. For example, distinguish a game that closes on launch from one that reaches the main menu but cannot load into a save, or one that fails at a particular location or after using a particular peripheral. A Steam discussion result includes the report “my game crashes at the main menu, i cant load into my game”; that is an example of a player describing a symptom, not evidence about how common it is.

8. Report a reproducible game-specific bug
If the game-only crash continues, share a concise report through the developer’s Steam discussion platform, which Amistech identifies as the place for suggestions and reports. Include your game version, what you did immediately before the crash, whether it happens every time, and any error text. Avoid presenting a one-off symptom as a confirmed general bug. An official developer update on January 4, 2026, said PSK workers had been rehired and asked players to report if the PSK started crashing again. That documents a location-linked issue at that time; it does not show that the PSK causes current crashes generally. An unaffiliated fan guide associates an earlier PSK store crash with temporarily disabled food sellers and warns about mods that force-enable them. Because that advice is unofficial and version-specific, check current official patch notes before considering it; do not apply it as a universal fix.
