What Nekome: Nazi Hunter is trying to be
Nekome: Nazi Hunter is described on Steam as a single-player, third-person action-combat game starring Vano Nastasu, “a young Romani man consumed by grief after the brutal murder of his family by Nazi soldiers.” That premise puts the character’s personal loss at the center of the hunt rather than treating Nazi targets as a generic obstacle course.
The announced transformation is from hunted survivor to hunter. How the planned stealth loop works
Steam’s description presents three connected decisions:
- Scout. Watch patrol routes and identify where an attack can begin.
- Plan. Choose an approach, including stealth and traps, before exposing yourself.
- Commit. Finish the encounter with close combat once the opportunity is created.
Enemy awareness is intended to be shared and persistent. A careless kill can trigger patrol responses, while waiting may allow reinforcements to arrive. That creates a risk calculation: acting quickly can prevent a larger response, but a noisy or poorly timed attack can make later movement harder. The description suggests a system in which the battlefield remembers what you did rather than resetting after every takedown.
Story and representation
Vano’s identity is not a side detail in the premise. He is a young Romani man whose family is murdered by Nazi soldiers, and the game frames his campaign as a revenge journey shaped by grief. That gives Nekome a different emotional starting point from a conventional resistance shooter: the motivation is intimate, and the transformation from victim to hunter is the central arc advertised by the developer.

Release status and platforms
Steam lists Nekome: Nazi Hunter as planned for Q1 2027 and explicitly says that the game is not yet available. The official Steam Community page identifies PlayStation 5, Xbox and PC as target platforms for early 2027. “Q1 2027” is a plan, not a guaranteed launch date, so treat the timing as provisional until the publisher announces a firm date.
For now, the practical action is to wishlist the game rather than shop for a finished copy. Any final edition breakdown, regional pricing, system requirements and platform-specific features should be checked against the live store listings when they are published.
What Wolfenstein: The New Order offers
Wolfenstein: The New Order is the established alternative: a released game with a complete campaign and immediate first-person shooting. Its core promise is straightforward. You pick it up, enter a resistance-shooter structure and fight through a finished sequence of missions without waiting for development to conclude.

Nekome vs. Wolfenstein by the decision that matters to you
If availability is the deciding factor
There is no meaningful contest: Wolfenstein: The New Order is playable now, while Nekome: Nazi Hunter is not yet available. Choosing Nekome today means following a future release, not starting a campaign.
If you care most about camera and combat
Nekome’s announced third-person camera keeps Vano visible while he scouts, sets traps and performs close-range attacks. Wolfenstein takes the opposite route with first-person, gunplay-led action. Neither camera is inherently better; the choice is whether you want to manage space and timing around a visible character or concentrate on aiming and shooting from the character’s viewpoint.

If stealth is the main attraction
Nekome is the clearer fit based on the information available. Its official description specifically calls out enemy-route scouting, assault planning, traps and persistent shared awareness. Those systems are the foundation of its advertised play loop.

The available comparison does not establish a like-for-like stealth feature set for Wolfenstein: The New Order. It characterizes that game as the gunplay-led first-person choice, so do not buy it expecting the same stealth-first structure Nekome is promising.
If you want melee finishers and traps
Again, Nekome is the targeted choice. Close combat and traps are named parts of its design, with stealth creating the conditions for a brutal finish. Because the game is unreleased, the depth, variety and reliability of those mechanics have not been demonstrated in a final build.
If the protagonist and story perspective matter most
Choose Nekome if you specifically want Vano Nastasu’s Romani survivor story and a revenge narrative focused on the murder of his family. Choose Wolfenstein if you prefer the more established resistance-shooter format and the certainty of a completed campaign. The available material supports that difference in framing, but it does not justify declaring one story universally superior.
How much confidence should you place in Nekome’s current previews?
Hands-on reports describe unfinished versions, and their criticism should be read as a snapshot of development rather than a final review. PC Gamer reported clunky movement, camera snags and staccato combat after a Gamescom demo. MeriStation, writing about an alpha build, reported robotic animation, weak artificial intelligence, bugs and audiovisual elements that were still missing.

Those observations affect the buying decision in two ways. First, they explain why Nekome cannot yet offer the same certainty as a completed commercial game. Second, they identify the areas to watch in future demonstrations: movement responsiveness, camera collision, combat flow, enemy behavior, animation quality, bug frequency and audiovisual polish.
The reports do not prove that the final game will retain those problems, and they do not provide a defensible performance benchmark, review average, player count or sales figure. No such numeric claim should be used to rank the games.
Who should choose Nekome?
- You want a third-person viewpoint rather than a first-person weapon view.
- You enjoy observing patrols and deciding when and where to attack.
- Traps, stealth setups and close-quarters finishers sound more appealing than continuous shooting.
- You are interested in a revenge story led by a Romani protagonist.
- You can wait for a planned Q1 2027 release and accept that current footage comes from unfinished builds.
Wishlist Nekome and monitor confirmed release information instead of treating the planned quarter as a fixed promise. When a final store page appears, check the platform, edition, system requirements and any launch-date change before purchasing.

Who should choose Wolfenstein: The New Order?
- You want to start a complete campaign immediately.
- First-person shooting is your preferred way to fight.
- You would rather buy a released game than follow an unreleased project.
- You want the established resistance-shooter format instead of waiting to see whether a stealth-and-melee concept reaches its goals.
For this group, Wolfenstein: The New Order is the honest recommendation. Confirm the exact edition, supported platform, regional price and current stock with the retailer or digital storefront before checkout, since those details change independently of the game’s overall status.

If your question is “Which one should I buy now?”, choose Wolfenstein: The New Order. If your question is “Which announced game sounds closer to a stealth-and-melee Nazi-hunting fantasy?”, choose Nekome, add it to your wishlist and reassess when a final release date and finished build are available.
