NetEase announced Anchor Point Studios on April 26, 2023, with locations in Barcelona and Seattle. Founded by game director Paul Ehreth, the studio said it would develop action-adventure games for PC and console, including social and multiplayer experiences. A February 2026 report from PC Gamer said Anchor Point was transitioning to operate independently of NetEase and seeking investors and partners.
What NetEase announced in 2023
NetEase introduced Anchor Point Studios as part of its NetEase Games division on April 26, 2023. The company described Barcelona as the studio’s main hub, with a second location in Seattle. Its announcement framed the studio as a new team for developing games rather than identifying a specific title. NetEase’s announcement is the primary source for those launch details.
The company said the studio was founded by Paul Ehreth, a game director and designer with more than 20 years of PC and console development experience, whose past work included Control and Halo. NetEase also named Pere Torrents as head of operations and described the rest of the team as industry veterans. Ehreth said at launch: “We’re so excited to officially drop our anchor in Barcelona, the hometown of my great-grandparents, and start building a strong team for our journey of exploration together with NetEase Games.”
What Anchor Point said it would make
The announced focus was action-adventure games for PC and console, with social and multiplayer experiences. That describes the studio’s intended direction at launch; it does not establish the genre, platforms, or features of an undisclosed individual project. The studio’s website likewise describes its focus as console and PC action games and lists Barcelona and Seattle as its bases. Its stated founding date is October 2022, which is distinct from NetEase’s public announcement date in April 2023. Anchor Point Studios’ website

What changed in 2026
On February 16, 2026, PC Gamer reported that CEO Paul Ehreth had announced Anchor Point was transitioning to operate independently of NetEase. The report said the studio was looking for prospective investors and partners for its project. Ehreth was quoted as saying: “We will be transitioning to operate as an independent studio. This is a significant change for us, but one that we’re approaching with optimism, clarity, and excitement for what’s ahead.” PC Gamer’s February 2026 report attributes the statement to Ehreth.
This is a reported transition, not a detailed account of its legal or financial terms. The available report does not specify what arrangements, if any, remain between Anchor Point and NetEase. NetEase’s 2023 announcement remains useful for the studio’s founding plans, but should not be read as proof that the studio is still part of NetEase Games.

Is there a named Anchor Point game?
The sources reviewed do not identify a publicly released Anchor Point game or name the project it is building. The 2026 report refers to “the incredible game we’re building” without giving a title. GamesBeat’s launch-era coverage also noted that it was unclear whether the studio was working on a particular intellectual property. GamesBeat’s 2023 report
As a result, there is no confirmed game title, release date, or consumer product listing to report. The studio’s general action-adventure ambition should not be treated as a product announcement.

That was the recruitment figure and work-arrangement description at the time, not a current job count or guarantee that those roles remain available.
