But the available sources do not verify where the images came from, or confirm that EA plans to bring the fusion mechanic from the fan-made PvZ Fusion project into the official game.
What the images reportedly show—and what they don’t prove
On September 23, 2025, creator Jake Miller published a video discussing images he described as a PvZ3 leak, including new plant designs and fusion concepts. The video is evidence that the images were reported and discussed; it is not independent authentication of their origin. Watch the video.
Nothing in the official EA material cited here confirms that these specific images are genuine, that the designs are planned for release, or that the official game will adopt the fan project’s fusion mechanic. The “might” in the claim matters: a reported leak is not an announcement.
What EA has officially said about PvZ3
In January 2025, the PvZ3 Team said it was re-imagining the game, working on new systems and features, and exploring potential art styles. EA shared images of those styles and invited players to provide feedback. The team wrote, “We ran some external tests to gather insight into which art styles sparked interest among participants in our focus groups!” It also described the shared images as “some of the potential art styles that the team has been exploring.” Neither statement announced plant fusions or authenticated the later images. How the leak report, fan project, and official updates differ
| Source | What it establishes | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| EA’s January 2025 PvZ3 post | EA said it was re-imagining PvZ3, developing systems and features, and exploring art styles with community feedback. | That fusion plants were announced or that the reported images are official. |
| Jake Miller’s September 23, 2025 video | A creator presented images as a leak and discussed new plant and fusion designs. | Independent confirmation of the images’ source, authenticity, or eventual inclusion in the game. |
| PvZ Fusion changelog | The separate fan project documents its own fusion plants and game modes. | EA collaboration, endorsement, or adoption of those features in official PvZ3. |
| EA’s PvZ3 Evolved information hub | Official update listings include CU4 and earlier updates. | Confirmation that the reported fusion mechanic is planned. |
The fan project’s changelog is useful for understanding what “fusions” can mean in that project, but it describes the project’s own content—not a feature roadmap for EA’s game. See the PvZ Fusion changelog. EA’s Plants vs. Zombies Game Info Hub lists official PvZ3 Evolved updates; the listings do not confirm that the leak’s fusion ideas are being adopted.
PvZ3’s shutdown and return timeline
The 2024 soft-launch shutdown notice is part of the story, but it is not the latest word on the game. EA announced on October 15, 2024 that the then-current soft-launch version would be taken offline for an overhaul. Downloads and in-app purchases ended that day, and November 15, 2024 was the final day to play that version before its servers went offline. Read the shutdown notice.

In January 2025, EA described PvZ3 as being re-imagined. Later, the official information hub listed PvZ3 Evolved updates, including CU4 and earlier updates. Those later listings mean the 2024 notice should be understood as applying to the soft-launch version, not as a complete account of the game’s subsequent status. The live hub may change.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Are fusions coming to the official game?
That remains unconfirmed. EA’s post establishes that the team was exploring styles and working on new systems and features; the creator’s video reports images that appear to depict fusions; and the fan changelog documents a different, fan-made project. These are distinct kinds of evidence, and none of the official sources cited here says that PvZ3 will include the fan project’s fusion mechanic. An EA or PopCap announcement directly identifying the images or confirming the feature would be needed to settle the question.
